Trailer Jack Will Not Run After Installation

Question:

I purchased on of these jacks and installed it today. I couldnt get to run. I wired it to the 12 volt battery on my trailer the and the battery is brand new and the winch works. Thought there was a bad ground so I cleaned the paint off and still no light no power at all. Any ideas?

You have the right idea with the ground problem. The Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack # JET-5000 does ground through its mounted location. If it is not attached to bare metal or if the metal is aluminum and not steel then that could interrupt the ground connection. You can try running a jumper wire from a mounting stud to the negative battery terminal and see if it runs.

Make sure also that you are using the inline circuit breaker. it is a manual reset circuit breaker so if it is tripped it will have to be manually reset before power will get to the jack.

There is also an internal circuit breaker and it will auto reset after 15 seconds or so.
