Can a 10 Inch Tire Be Used On a Pop Up Camper that Currently has 14 Inch Tires
Published 02/19/2015 >
Question:
I have two trailers boat/Pop up camper that I roll onto beach for primitive camping. Boat Trailer has Kenda 10 in rim wide tires-love em as they are bouyant on sand, and good on highway. I want to duplicate on small Pop UP 1600lbs Trailer, but they currently have 14in 24in dia narrow wheel/tire. Standard. PopUpTrailer has been lifted inch to help clearance over fender area. Can I install shorter 10inch wheel/wide oval tire without multiplying problems if I attend to the load rating?

Expert Reply:
A 10-inch tire will affect the load capacity of your pop up camper. The 14-inch tires that are available are as wide or wider than the 10-inch option. The width will be good on the sand.
You would be better off going with the 14-inch tire like the Kenda Loadstar # AM3S560 as it will have a section width of 8.4 inches. The wheel capacity is 1,870 pounds at 50 psi and will have a outer diameter of 26.3 inches. The wheel is a galvanized steel as well.
Always take into consideration that the overall capacity of any tire and wheel assembly is limited to the lowest rated component.
I included a video review for you as well.
