Recommended Tube Step for a 2011 Ram Big Horn Crew Cab

Updated 01/26/2015 | Published 01/24/2015

Question:

I have a 2011 Dodge Ram Big Horn Crew Cab with a 57inch bed. Im interested in the Weston stainless tube steps. After careful study Ive noticed that most nerf bars, etc. attach to the rocker panels and not the frames. My concern is that this could lead to potential issues to the rocker panels after years of use. Is my concern legitimate or is this something that would not be an issue? Also, would the Weston 4inch stainless tube steps a good one to consider for my truck or would you recommend another?

That's a good question as it is asked quite often.

Rocker panels are very strong and I am confident you won't have any issues once you attach tube steps. An attachment to the frame isn't an option on most vehicles because of the long distance from the frame out to the sides of the truck.

The Westin Pro Traxx stainless steel nerf bars # 21-23560 are a solid choice. The enclosed ends will prevent internal corrosion and I think you will like the non-slip, top mounted pads because they provide sure footing and a very rugged.

My co-worker has some Westin tube steps and he has been very satisfied, and hasn't had any problems in years of use.
