How to Pick Out Correct Ball Mount and 5-way Adapter for a 2015 GMC Acadia with Tow Package

Question:

I just leased the 2015 acadia SLT with the towing package. It comes equipped with a receiver and a plug. I just purchased a chaparral 19.5 H20 with a karavan trailer one axle. The dealer said the trailer wire has a flat 5 on it. Can you tell me exactly which hitch etc and wire adapter to purchase in order to be able to tow the boat. Thank you!

Since your 2015 GMC Acadia came with the factory tow package that means it has a 2 inch hitch installed already with a 7-way trailer wiring harness. Sounds like you are looking for the correct ball mount and wiring adapter to convert the 7-way to a 5-way.

You will want to pick out a ball mount with the correct rise/drop to allow your trailer to be towed as level as possible. You might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

All you would need for a wiring adapter would be the Adapter 7 Pole to 5 Pole Flat # A75TB.
