Question:

I have used the Blue Ox base plate and tow bar on several vehicles and find it to be a great product. I like the separate bulb kit BX8869 using the 1157 bulb which I used the past 2 times. I getting ready to set up a 2012 Liberty with the base plate and wiring. I want to try the new LED kit BX88267. Is the red LED the correct choice for a red lens? What is the bulb type or socket type is used on the 3 wire LED lamp? Do you have a LED 1157 style bulb to recommend for change the BX8869 to LED?

According to Blue Ox, the taillight assemblies of the 2012 Jeep Liberty are compatible with a bulb and socket taillight kit like the # BX8869. If you wanted to swap the incandescent bulbs out for some 1157-compatible LED's, I'd recommend the Putco # P231157R360. The bulbs are red in color and are sold in a pack of 2. You'll achieve the best illumination if you match the bulb color to the color of the lens.
