Published 12/29/2014

Question:

Hi, new vehicle in need of hitch and harness, 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE. What is difference between Curt C13169 and C13200? Also, vehicle did not come w/ OEM tow package... is cleanest Harness choice the C56217, and does the flat connector fasten to the Curt hitch...or is a mount accessory needed?

Actually they are basically the same hitch, the part number changed and the # C13200 will be replacing the # C13169. Ordering either will give you basically the same hitch.

Since your vehicle didn't come with the tow package the correct trailer wiring harness would be the # C56217 that you referenced. This wiring harness will actually be store in the rear cargo area of your vehicle when not in use so a bracket wouldn't be needed.

If you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included to the right that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
