Can Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch be Free-Spooled or Does Line have to be Unwound Via the Crank

can you free spool line off this winch or do you have to unwind it with the handle?

The winch can be released so you can pull line off. The winch has a hand brake for manually-controlled load release.
