Question:
Will 37042 fit the 2004 Astro Cargo Van or what is recommended as another store told me it will work

I did some research on 37042 that you referenced and its a Reese trailer hitch that worked with the Chevy Astro Extended Body 1990-2005. It's currently obsolete now.
The Draw-Tite # 24773 you also have referenced will only fit 2006-2010 Mazda 5's so I wouldn't recommend this for your 2004 Chevy Astro Van.
The most popular hitch we currently offer for your 2004 Astro Cargo Van is the Draw-Tite # 75122. It's a Class-III hitch and has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds and tongue weight of 500 pounds. Always check your Owners Manual to determine the towing capacity maximum and you will go with the lowest rated capacity.
The wiring you would need is the Curt custom fit wiring # C55411 as it will splice into your existing wiring. The ball mount kit I recommend is part # 989900 and will come with two ball mounts with different rise and drops, two different size hitch balls, a pin and clip, and the etrailer.com ball mount bag. The ball mount with the rise or drop closest to the difference should then be chosen.
I have included a couple FAQ's and installation video for you as well.
