Does the lid attach when the carpod is folded up, or does it have to be transported separately in the vehicle?

According to my contact at Carpod their Walled Folding Cargo Carrier # M2205-01-02 has a lid that cannot remain in place the when unit is folded up for storage because the lid needs to be installed when the side-walls are upright.
However, you can simply fold the side-walls down and put the top lid on top of them and bungee cord the lid (with an item like # EM06701) so it won't fall off. Then fold up the carrier to the back of the car. This way you do not need to store the lid inside the vehicle.
