Where is the Ground Wire for the Tail Lights on a 2004 Chevy Colorado

Question:

Where is the main ground wire for original wires on vehicle?. The tail lights and directionals are not working correctly. When I step on brake the lights back feed through directionals without the C55510 hooked up. If I hook it up the problem gets worse.

If you look at were the white wire is on T-harness # C55510, that is the ground on it. So the corresponding pin and the wire connected to it would be the ground on the vehicle tail light wiring. It looks like you would have to pull back the protective covering on the vehicle side harness (where the Curt harness plugs in) to even see the wires.

If the problem is happening with and without the T-harness installed then that could indicate a bent or broken pin in the vehicle connectors.

So on my 2004 Chevy Colorado when pressing the break I’m they are both very dim and if I’m drive the reverse light sometimes comes on when braking. Would this also be a bad ground. I look inter the bed where the brakes wires and trailer harness is and there are a couple wires that were cut one being a white wire. From what I read this white line is the ground correct? Is it backeedi g trying to find a point of discharge and going to the reverse?

This certainly could be a ground issue and if you're ground wire is cut and not actually attached, that would certainly cause problems. The white wire from the Tekonsha harness is indeed for ground so you'll want to attach this to the truck's ground. If this doesn't resolve the issue let me know.
