Arrived yesterday (earlier than promised).Installed today. Works perfectly. It was a pain getting the steps out, but wasn't too much trouble putting it back together. It's too bad there's no low-cost way to repair the guts of the older Series 28 steps. Oh well, that's the cost of maintaining an older RV.

Replacement Parts for Kwikee Steps on 2003 Itasca Horizon
I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between the old and the upgraded controllers aside from the fact that the old model doesn't have a direct replacement. They made a change to the steps after 2005 moving to the integrated system which uses a different controller. Anything manufactured from 1999-2005 used pre-IMGL components and the old replacement parts are no longer available. Replacement Motor, Gearbox and Linkage for Kwikee Series 32 Steps Pre-1995
I do believe you have a Kwikee Series 32 step with a curved linkage so you can replace the motor and linkage with the Motor Upgrade Kit for Kwikee Electric RV Steps # LC379145. This curved linkage is the "A" linkage that you've mentioned, so this is the complete kit needed to replace all of those components. If you wanted to replace the entire step assembly with completely new parts you can use the Kwikee Electric RV Step Complete Assembly - Double - 32 Series - 24" Wide # LC372261.
