Video Transcript for An In-Depth Look at the Keystone Single Jack Ethernet Connector for SmartPlug Data Port Inlet

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this keystone single jack Ethernet connector for the SmartPlug data port inlet. And this is for a quantity of one. Now this is a single ethernet keystone jack connector, and it's designed to snap into the SmartPlug data port inlet to provide a reliable connection for data transmission. And just to demonstrate, I wanted to pull one of those SmartPlug data port inlets. You can see here.

And then when you open it, this one just has this plug in there that there's nothing there. This one's open. So what you can do is you can take this as a ethernet connector and just install it into the back, push it in just like that, and it snaps in there. And now you'll see one of your connectors is an ethernet. This allows you to hook up your ethernet cable in your boat or your RV.

Now this is for an ethernet connection. They do also offer these connector ports in a mix and match combination. So you can customize this SmartPlug data port inlet to your application. Comes available also in a coaxial connector that you can plug in here, a USB connector that would snap in, a USB-C connector, and even an HDMI connector. All those connectors, we do list at the bottom of the product page to show you what they look like and how you can order them.

But again, when you open it, there's your connector. And if you go to remove it, just push down on it and then pull it out. And it removes just like that. Pretty easy to install and remove. But that should do it for the review on this keystone single jack ethernet connector for the SmartPlug data port inlet.

Perfect for Starlink installation on an Airstream! Excellent experience with eTrailer

by:

Excellent for Starlink external RV connection! Fast shipping and easy transaction

by:

Fit the SmartPlug perfectly and allowed me to wire Skylink Mini to my Peplink router

by:

Great Product! Works perfectly with the Smart Plug port. It doesn't say in the description but this is a Smart Plug product so it is 100% compatible. It just snaps into the Smart Plug port. We used it on our camper to connect our Starlink dish to the camper and ran a cable on the inside to the router. We tested it before installing and it worked perfectly. Highly recommend.

by:

Works great and fits SmartPlug perfect.

by:

Works great! Makes Starlink easy to us e.

by:

Fit nicely in the data inlet on the new SmartPlug that was purchased in conjunction with this unit. Snapped right in and fit snugly. The housing appears to be plastic in the product images but the one I received was metal and appears to be well shielded.

by:

I wish it snapped into the smart plug data port better like the blank does. If it gets.pushed to hard from the front it pushes back out of the hole. Doesn't snap in at all, just slides in.

I learned about this Ethernet cable connector for the Smart Plug at the 2024 Airstream international rally trade show. Very simple to remove one of your two coax cable connectors in the Smart Plug on the exterior of your Airstream and replace it with this Ethernet connector. This should make connections for the Starlink Gen 3 dish to the router located inside my Airstream an easier installation with the addition of a second Starlink cable.

by:

Exactly what I needed!

by:

My Airstream was wired for satellite, but I’m going with Starlink which is Ethernet. Easily swapped out my Marinco cable/satellite ouside connector for the Smartplug. Same hole pattern, so no drilling! Stupid easy!

by:

Worked great from the moment we hooked it up.

by:

Great product, absurdly high price.

by:

Good product. At the end 9f the day, it's only an ethernet jack and it's a bit expensive.

by:

Snaps in place easily.

by:

Crazy expensive for what it is. Otherwise does the job as advertised.

by:

Web page shows black plug which I prefer but I was sent a silver plug

by:

Excellent customer service, great follow up, after backorder very fast delivery!

by:

It's a keystone jack, not much to say. It works.

  • How to Use SmartPlug System for Starlink Entry Port
Hey David, thanks for reaching out! The closest combination we can get for you is the SmartPlug RV/Marine Data Port Inlet # SM36MJ and then getting the Keystone Single Jack Ethernet Connector # SM38MJ along with the ethernet adapter for your Starlink system. I haven't seen a direct Starlink connector from the SmartPlug brand, so you might have your brother figure out exactly where and how that was installed if you want his exact setup. The one nice thing about this ethernet connector...

  • Smartplug Setup for Both a Starlink and Cable Connection
Hey Larry, the Smartplug part # SM96MJ is the correct part you are looking for as this has ability to have an ethernet connection for your Starlink and a coax for the cable connection. For the ethernet connector you would need the part # SM38MJ and then for the coax part # SM76MJ. You will also need a Starlink to Ethernet adapter which we do not carry. Are these the two connectors you need for sure?

  • Best RV Port to Use for Starlink CAT6 Cable to Keep Out Bugs and Rodents
Hey Bob, thanks for reaching out! I have a great way to give you worry-free access to your Starlink internet, but you might need to find an ethernet adapter for your Starlink wiring. I'm not entirely familiar with all of their connections, but from what I could find online, I do believe you can switch it to a standard ethernet-type connection. We have the SmartPlug RV/Marine Data Port Inlet # SM36MJ which can be paired with the Keystone Single Jack Ethernet Connector # SM38MJ to give...

  • How to Use SmartPlug System for Starlink Internet Connection
Hey Kevin, thanks for reaching out! At this point in time SmartPlug hasn't made a special connection for the Starlink internet system, but they do have their SmartPlug RV/Marine Data Port Inlet # SM36MJ. From my understanding Starlink has an ethernet adapter so you might be able to use the spare port on this SmartPlug along with the Adapter # SM38MJ to get your desired outcome.

We have the Multi-Purpose Access Door for RVs, # 37231025. This is a 6-3/4" diameter hatch that requires a 5-1/2" diameter cutout.
