Best RV Port to Use for Starlink CAT6 Cable to Keep Out Bugs and Rodents

Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/10/2025

Question:

Do you have a door like this that would be suitable for a CAT6 Starlink cable? The diameter of a 30A power cable is thicker than a CAT6 cable and I worry about rodent or bug access with the door open and the smaller diameter CAT6 cable in the opening. I do not have a wet bay so I am hoping to use something like this.

Hey Bob, thanks for reaching out!

I have a great way to give you worry-free access to your Starlink internet, but you might need to find an ethernet adapter for your Starlink wiring. I'm not entirely familiar with all of their connections, but from what I could find online, I do believe you can switch it to a standard ethernet-type connection.

We have the SmartPlug RV/Marine Data Port Inlet # SM36MJ which can be paired with the Keystone Single Jack Ethernet Connector # SM38MJ to give you a secure connection that can't be infiltrated by bugs or rodents. The ethernet port is also CAT6 rated (see attached photo) so you'll be able to still get full use out of your CAT6 cabling as well.

Do you think this will work for what you need?

Hey Bob, did the SmartPlug data port and Keystone connector give you the tight seal you wanted for your Starlink cable? Your update could make it easier for others trying to keep pests out while running a CAT6 line.
