Got the Longer trailer U bolts that fit the 5" frame yesterday. They are a perfect fit.Fast shipping and great communication. Thanks again.Ted C Clover S.C.

by:

Needed longer U bolts to attach the Seasense Guide On Pole kit to the 2 X 5" beam of my trailer. These did the job. Fit the brackets fine. The only drawback is their "Pre-Galvanized" finish seems like nothing more than normal zinc plating of any bolt. I will prime and paint the brackets before using them to help prevent rusting.

by:

Overall I would say a good product. Maybe not quite rigid enough for my heavier boat, but does its job. I made sleeves for the guides because the pvc tubes were leaving scuff marks on my paint

@Russ Glad to hear that Russ, what kind of boat do you have?

by:

Installed the guides on my pontoon trailer yesterday (9-30-25).
Fairly easy to install w/ an extra pair of hands. Only complaint is attempting to seat the top caps. Had to use a rubber mallet to try to get it on the pole (using light taps),and promptly split the cap down the side. I understand the necessity of tight tolerances, but this borders on bad geometries. Cap is basically the same diameter as the pole.

by:

Exactly what I needed! My boat trailer was too tall for the u-bolts that came with the CE Smith trailer guides but these extra-long bolts worked great. Arrived faster than expected too. Thanks guys!

@Erin That is great to hear, I am glad they are working well! What kind of boat are you hauling around?

by:

Did not like the fact that the kit came with 5 U bolts and had to pay an additional $XX for 6” U Bolts. Apso, had to throw away the 5” U bolts which was a waste.

All that needed to be done was to offer a 5” kit and a 6” kit. Then customer can select t desired kit. No waste of U Bolts. . No additional $XX charge. Appears to be marketing gimmick to over charge customers. The U bolt kit worked fine, fit well, and was of reasonable quality.

by:

These have worked very well. We needed the larger size in order to mount the trailer guides on our boat trailer.

very prompt shipping. Appears to be just as ordered (not installed yet).

by:

I have a welded aluminum boat with extended transom. I really needed some Guide-Ons mounted at the rear of the trailer to ensure that the extended transom centered up on the trailer bunks, as cross currents at the haul out would often skew the boat to one side, and I would need to back down in to the water and re-center. Frustrating when people are waiting in line!!
I got the CE Smith Guide-Ons, but was dismayed when I opened the box and found that the included U-Bolts were not long enough for my 5 inch EZ Loader trailer frame. A quick search of etrailer and I found the solution with the Extra Long Bolt Kit.
Worked perfectly. Now my boat stays centered when I haul out on the first try.

by:

@Jesus That is great to hear, I am glad they are working well for you still. What kind of boat do you have?

by:

The Post Guide-Ons arrived quickly and have been installed.
They have not been water tested yet, but look like they will do the trick. Loading the boat on the trailer has been challenging when you can’t tell where you are side to side.
A couple things to consider: The width of the boat relative to the frame of the trailer make the bottom tubes of the guides just barely long enough. I believe it will work, but another inch of tube would be good for my setup. When installing, if you have a deep socket, you won’t have to switch to an open wrench. Other than that, I am very happy with these!

by:

These longer U bolts allowed us to attach the trailer guides that our new BEAR trailer did not come with. The trailer guides are a game changer when putting our Bennington Tri-toon on the trailer, especially in the wind with the bimini tops up.

by:

Excellent product. Just as advertised. Easy to install solo and made of solid materials. Haven’t used to pull boat out yet, but can’t imagine it won’t guide me in great. I used the extra long U-bolt kit because of my trailer being 6 inches. Not sure why they wouldn’t just include them from the beginning as they are only a 1/2 “ longer, but that’s the way it goes. Very satisfied

by:

Exactly what I needed. Great Customer Service

by:

It did the job

by:

I received some of these before. They are excellent quality and work as advertised on 3" x 5" trailelr frames.

by:

I updated my trailer by adding a set of guide-ons and its been a real plus especially on breezy days or loading /unloading by myself.

by:

Just the right size for the trailer!

by:

Excellent fit!!!

by:

Not what i ordered!!!!!
For the second
time and still cant seem to send the right parts!!

by:

Once i received my 6" ubolts i was able to install my guides on my trailer.
parts arrived on times very satisfied with the service i will buy from e-trailer again

by:

The U-bolts fit perfectly to the 5” frame. They seem sturdy and appear galvanized as the product states. The cost, I think, is excessive for this product.

by:

This was exactly the part i needed
2x5”
square frame. 1.5x1.5” mounting bracket

Thank you Stacey for the assist!

  • How Far Away Will 40 PVC Guide-On Sit From Trailer
The most room you can get with the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27620 is right at 11" so you'll need the 60" long guide-on kit # CE27640 instead which is about 6" longer and will give you more then enough clearance. If the 60" PVC guide-ons are too tall for your application then you can always cut them so that they are shorter.
