Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the CE Smith extra long u-bolt kit for boat trailer guide-ons. The extra long u-bolts secure the bunk style, roller style, or post style guide-ons to your boat trailer. These are made from a durable steel construction. They feature a zinc plated design so they're strong and durable and they're also gonna do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. Now, this part number includes a total of four u-bolts. Other mounting hardware like locknuts and washers are sold separately.
But with this part number you get two formed crossover u-bolts and two straight u-bolts. The formed crossover ones are for those applications where you have to cross over the u-bolts around the trailer frame. So, two of those are include. They could also be used for, you know, going straight over the frame like this. Or you can flip them over and go under the frame.The product's made in the USA.
These u-bolts are designed to fit trailer frames up to three inches wide and five and one quarter inched tall. The inside leg link measuring from the bottom of this cross member right here to the end of the threads, that's six inches. And then the opening, that's the distance between the threaded portion, you'll notice that down here by the threads, it is a little bit wider than what it is here at the top. But down here by the threads, that opening is like pretty close to three and a half inches. But just keep in mind that these are designed to fit trailer frames up to three inches wide by five and one quarter inches tall and the diameter is three eighths of an inch.That's gonna do it for today's look at the CE Smith extra long u-bolt kit for boat trailer guide-ons..

Excellent product. Just as advertised. Easy to install solo and made of solid materials. Haven’t used to pull boat out yet, but can’t imagine it won’t guide me in great. I used the extra long U-bolt kit because of my trailer being 6 inches. Not sure why they wouldn’t just include them from the beginning as they are only a 1/2 “ longer, but that’s the way it goes. Very satisfied

I have a welded aluminum boat with extended transom. I really needed some Guide-Ons mounted at the rear of the trailer to ensure that the extended transom centered up on the trailer bunks, as cross currents at the haul out would often skew the boat to one side, and I would need to back down in to the water and re-center. Frustrating when people are waiting in line!!
I got the CE Smith Guide-Ons, but was dismayed when I opened the box and found that the included U-Bolts were not long enough for my 5 inch EZ Loader trailer frame. A quick search of etrailer and I found the solution with the Extra Long Bolt Kit.
Worked perfectly. Now my boat stays centered when I haul out on the first try.

I purchased guide-on bunks to facilitate the loading of my pontoon from the lake onto my trailer. The hardware included two kinds of u-bolts. One kind is a standard u-bolt The other kind has an indentation in the center of the crossbar. The instructions showed that the u-bolts should be crossed when installed on the frame of the trailer.
But crossing the u-bolts is impossible if the frame is three inches wide. I learned that for frames that are three inches wide, the u-bolts should NOT be crossed. I learned this only by finding on U-Tube a demonstration of the installation. The instructions should have made this point clear.
On a separate matter, the representative who took my order, Bryan, provided excellent service.

I have spoken with my contacts at CE Smith and these should work for their guide ons, and they do need to be crossed for a correct install. The flat u-bolt should be mounted closest to trailer frame then the indented/formed on should be installed over the flat one.

I think these should come in the kit standard vs being sold separately. They fixed the issue of the original’s being too short for my pontoon trailer.

The part performs as advertised. The only issue I had was that I lost a hat nut on one of the rollers, therefore I lost the entire roller. No worries however because when I called the vendor to tell them of my issue and to order the part again, they just sent me what I needed to ensure that I was good. CE Smith is a top-notch operation. Great customer service. Would use them again.

A few days after making the order I received an email from etrailer indicating that there would be a delay in delivery until early next month and the items that I needed had to be shipped first from a manufacturer. I called the emailer to discuss but it was a Friday afternoon and I did not reach him. Later that evening I got an email from etrailer indicating that my order would be delivered within 5 days and it arrived on time as they said!
