Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the floor trim panels, access panels, and tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the T-One vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 2018 and newer Volvo XC60 vehicles excluding the plug in hybrid model. And on a custom fit part like this I always like to recommend for you to go to our website. Use our fit guide. Put in your year and model vehicle, and it will show if this will work for your application. Now this harness with provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights.
It is compatible to with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters that we do sell separately on our website. And this unit does connect very quickly and easily. Basically just locates your connection points, which are behind the taillights. Take these two T-connectors, plug in these T-connectors, one on each side. Ground your white wire, then run your power wire to your vehicle's battery.
Now this harness does include the ModuLite here, this black box. This is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. It is a powered module. So it does connect directly to the battery. And that's to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Now the wire that goes out the back that the 4-way's connected to, that's constructed of a 16-gauge bonded wire.
And if you notice on the 4-way it does come with this integrated dust cover. So when you're not plugged into your trailer, you can just put your dust cover right over those terminals, and it protects them from the elements or from any damage. A few specs on this harness. The maximum amperage for the stop and turn light circuit is five amps per circuit and for the taillights it's 7.5 amps per circuit. Now this harness comes with everything laid out here on the table. I'm just gonna go through these parts quickly to show you how they install.
Now basically again, what you'll do is access the rear of your vehicle. Locate the connection points behind your taillights. And then you'll take these T-connectors and what you wanna do is first take the T-connector with the yellow wiring, that's for the driver's side. And then unplug your harness. Plug this in between the harness and your taillights. And then take the other T-connector with the length of green wire, that's for the passenger side. Run this all the way over to the passenger side. And connect this the same way. Once those are all connected, you do wanna attach this ModuLite box to a nice flat surface, so it doesn't bounce around. So they do include a piece of double face tape you can use. Does have a little tab with a hole on it, you could use a screw if you prefer. And then once that's secure, you can run your bonded wire out the back. And then your two remaining wires are your black wire for the power, and the white wire you see has an island on it. That's the connector, a good clean ground. If there's one nearby you can use it. If not, they do include a screw that you can make your own ground as you need it.And then your black wire is your power wire. This will go to the vehicle's battery. So they do give you this length of wire to run the power wire up to the front of your vehicle. And they give you the connectors. So if you take your butt connector, put it on your power wire, connect it to one end of this length of wire and then run this to the front of the vehicle. And when you get to the front, you don't wanna connect this directly to the battery. You do wanna run it through the inline fuse holder. So take your other butt connector, put it on this end, connect to one side of the fuse holder. And then the other side of the fuse holder is what'll connect to the battery. And they do give you a eyelet connector that you can put on there to connect it.Once that's all connected, just pop open your fuse holder. Take your included 15 amp fuse, push it into your fuse holder. And once you get it pushed in, just go ahead and put your cover on. And now your systems all ready to go. If you notice they do give you so extra cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring. And they do give you a nice set of detailed instructions that'll describe how to install it, and with pictures on where to install it. But that should do it for the review on the T-One vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector.
This harness is almost perfect. One gripe is that the instructions say to install this on the drivers side rear compartment. I don't know why anyone would want to do that. The factory harness kit attaches on the passenger side, the gasket to pass wires through the body is on the passenger side, and there is a fuse box with 12V stud as a spare grounding stud for the factory trailer wiring. Installing it on the drivers side would require lengthening the trailer 4 pin wires and stringing a longer power back across the vehicle.
So I installed on the passenger side. My complaint with that is the yellow/brown wires going to the drivers side taillight is too short to reach across the vehicle, so I had to splice in a wire to extend it. Making the inline wires the same length as the passenger side would have made this a perfect wiring kit allowing install on either side of the vehicle.
Like the hitch, I referred to the Volvo hitch/wiring harness install for details on body removal, and existing wiring details. (Google Volvo Instruction No 31454723 for Part No 31439424).
When you remove the passenger side panel, there is a circuit breaker box and two factory connectors covered in a small bag. These are the connectors for the factory wiring harness module. If you add a breaker in the spare slot between the existing 40A and 20A breakers, this will provide power (always hot) to the Red/Brown wire on the 2 wire power connector. I terminated the black wire from the Tekonsha module with a spade crimp which fit right into the connector (could have cut off the factory connector and just spliced the wire, but decided against that). Taped and secured the connection to make sure it doesn't separate over time. I added a 20A fuse since that was the smallest amperage I could find at the auto parts store (factory module comes with a 40A fuse but the power plugs right into their module, and Tekonsha kit came with a 15A fuse).
I originally installed the 4 pin connector to the left of the hitch receiver. When I started to trim the bumper fascia, I realized the sensor to open the tailgate with your foot was in the way, so had to move it to the right side of the receiver.
The trailer hitch(item 76194) that I purchased for my 2022 XC60 Volvo worked great. I installs it myself with a little help from my 19 year old grandson. We has No problems, I have not installed the T-One wiring Harness, it not needed at this time.
Product was easy to install. The adaptor box gits nicely in the spare tire compartment, along with the connector. It was great for my occasional use of a trailer. A great pairing with the hitch for the bicycle rack
Perfect fit for my 2018 Volvo XC60. Getting access to the tail lights was the most difficult part. Installation took one hour. The instructions included show the battery in the engine compartment, but my vehicle has the battery in the spare tire compartment under the cargo area. No need to route the black 12 ga. power wire forward under the vehicle. Bonus! Tested the 4-Flat connector and good to go.
etrailer provided excellent over the phone support and guidance. In these times when most companies rather us talk with a bot or scavenge for answers online, you can still talk with a real person at etrailer with minimal or no wait. Delivery timing was just as they promised. And the hitch and wiring were in stock! Thank you.
The order process was easy. Delivery was within a few days… fast! But, the best part was the easy to follow video instructions that allowed me to install the hitch in an hour. I haven’t done the wire harness yet, but if it’s like the hitch… it’ll be a breeeze. Thanks etrailer!!
Trailer wiring kit has worked flawless for more than a year. I am very satisfied.
Products didn't fit on my model. Was charged restocking fee and had to pay for return shipping
Easy installation on 2021 Volvo XC 90!!!! Works great with great instruction. Because hybrid did not link into internal electrical system.
The light wire harness was a perfect fit and as always, the video guide made it easy to install.
Had my Volvo dealer install the harness when they installed the hitch. Everything seems to function well - no troubles at all no matter what the weather.
Instructions were phenomenal. Kit was exactly as described. Very cool that they follow up a year later to see how things are working out, and happy to report that it has been a positive experience.
The kit fit well in a Volvo XC60. It's kind of strange that Volvo didn't provide more of a plug-in option, but this worked well. I'm very glad the battery was located in the trunk, because I would not have been excited about routing the battery wire all the way to the front.
Clear, easy to follow instructions. Good quality product.
This is an excellent product. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Makes installing very easy.
Easy to install perfect fit works as advertised great system.
We did not install it ourselves and paid about $90 to have it done. It works well
Awesome! Everything I needed and it fit like a glove. Very impressed.
Easy to Insall and all directions clear.
Great product, plug & play, & video's on line made it easy. Dealer was going to charge me $850 for what I did for $65 & less than an hour of my time. Great deal
The product worked great
