Forged, Self-Latching Jaw

Self-Latching Jaw

The one-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel hitch provides absolute security with its wraparound design. Increased jaw-to-king-pin contact results in not only a stronger connection, but less noisy rattling and stiff chucking as well.

The jaw is also always ready to receive, so you don't need to use the handle to open it before backing up toward your trailer. As long as the bail pin is removed from the latching handle, the jaw will accept the king pin as it enters the hitch.

Finally, the jaw is self-latching, so it will automatically secure your trailer's king pin when it moves into the jaw.

Quiet, Comfortable Ride

Pivot Bushings

In addition to the tight jaw tolerance, a close connection between the head and the pivot bushings further reduces rattle and movement. And because the pivot bushings are independent from the head, they can be tightened to ensure a strong connection over time.

King Pin Indicator Prevents High Pinning

King Pin Indicator

This M5 hitch features a built-in king pin indicator to ensure proper hookup. This indicator is located on the back of the head along with a V-shaped notch that are both visible from the cab of your truck. The V-notch is lined up with the jaw at the front of the hitch, and can be used as a guiding point to line the king pin up with the jaw as you back up your truck. The jaw also has an internal plate that keeps the king pin from entering if it is too high to enter safely. As a result, the king pin indicator will only change from red to green if the king pin is fully engaged in the jaw.

Easy-to-Use Latching Handle

Lever and Hitch

This hitch's handle is designed for smooth motion and effortless operation. It requires only 2 fingers to use and won't bind up as you pull. In addition, the handle is long, so it's easy to access from outside of your truck bed. And the ergonomic grip makes it comfortable to hold and pull from different angles.

Was looking for a bolt on kit for bare frame rails for a hotshot truck. These require support in the middle (at least one center bolt in each rail). Ended up having a fabricator weld a plate for support and mount the rails to that. But I guess that's reasonable for a universal kit.

Tried to install this on a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500, dual rear wheel, long bed, 4x4, diesel engine truck. The clamp style mounting simply does not work. The ONLY way I can see this working is by drilling added holes in the frame of the truck at the front end of the side plates. This is because of a bend in the frame at the clamp location. Also at this location the frame is boxed in and any bolt holes will be hidden. Bolts would have to fished in with bolt wires.

This hitch has a feature or two we didn't even expect. It was an easy install and is performing great. Plenty of maneuverability and rock stable. etrailer's service was incredible and stayed on top of the delivery until we got it. We thought they went the second mile to make sure we got our hitch.

I am very pleased with my purchase of the Reese M5, a major improvement over my old receiver. Great service from etrailer as well.

Just received yesterday, will be having it installed on Monday and will be pulling my new camper home next Saturday. Will update afterwards with pics

by: Cale09/11/2023

Worked perfect used with airlift AL57298. Didn’t see any picture of universal rails and air bag kit working togther.

by: Bryan02/20/2019

Best value for the money! I have used this hitch for a season now and I must say, it's worked out great. I use a Teflon plate with it and this hitch doesn't have much play in it going down the road. I have not had any issues with it sliding when locked.

I am very impressed with the fit and finish. Packaging from etrailer.com was inadequate. UPS man unloaded the package, rang the doorbell and drove away before I got outside. There was a lock washer laying on the ground and a bracket was hanging out of the box. We opened the package and inventoried everything, and to my amazement everything was there. Ordering process was very easy and my order shipped quickly. While on my lunch break at work I added 6 items to my cart and printed it so I could complete the order when I got home. About 4 hours later 3 of the 6 items increased in price. This hitch increased in price by $2, not a big deal I guess. I was able to find this item about $12 cheaper at another retailer and I provided this information to etrailer.com. Within a few hours they refunded me 110% of the difference. I am installing this on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed and the instructions are lacking. Maybe a professional installer who has done this many times would not have any problems, but the instructions leave some things to your imagination.

Working great after one year of use. Use it to tow a 30 gooseneck trailer and it has worked as advertised. I bought a used 5th wheel hitch and although I have never used it, it fits perfectly in the rail system.

The kit arrived very quickly, in fact shipping was moved from "5 to 7 days" to "3 to 5 days"and arrived in 5 day. During Christmas rush this was great, and really appreciated. I ask a technician friend to install it for me. It went together very nicely.

I am rating this as EXCELLENT, do to the ease of installation an the escallation of the shipping arrangement. Thank You for a great product and great service.

2015 Ford F-150

Installed these rails with the short bed Reese bracket kit for 2015 or newer f150. Installation went well. Instructions were pretty straight forward but measurements from end of bed were not quite right and put the rails too far forward of the underbed brackets by about 2". I actually measured off the cross rails under the bed of the truck after I had installed the brackets.

Helpful hint: after getting a hole drilled on either side of the front rail to secure it to brackets under bed, put the hitch on both rails which will line up the rear rail exactly right then drill the rest of your mounting holes.

The included spacers are not quite thick enough and have come out from between the rails and bottom of the bed a few times even after I tightened bolts so much, bed started to bend. Have to find some other Shem's to make it tight enough.

I would recommend these rails eventhough it took a little bit to get them in the right location.

PS - Be very careful when drilling holes on driver side as you are right over the gas tank.

I sent an email and was very pleased to get a response the next day, It was a universal kit RP30035, I had to make spacers for 3 of the frame brackets, the gaps were all over the map no matter how much I squared it up, all in all I'm pleased.

I've had this system installed in my 1996 Ford F150 for a year now. I did the installation myself and found it to be relatively easy. I had to remove the rear tires to give better access to the frame, but after I did that drilling the needed holes and bolting in the brackets was straight foward. I use these rails with a gooseneck plate and have had no trouble pulling anything yet.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Original package was damaged by UPS somewhere during transport and delivery. etrailer made it very easy to get the missing part (smaller mounting bracket fell out of box somewhere) and instead of just sending the one part they re sent the bolt kit, all four mounting brackets, and a new pull cord. So basically the entire assembly other than the base rails. Could’nt be happier and will post pictures as soon as it’s installed

2006 Chevrolet Silverado

I installed this kit in my 2006 Silverado 2500HD to hold a Reese 16k sliding hitch. The kit is very well built and had more parts than required to complete the installation. Once installed, works great and am very pleased!

The work itself is cumbersome and a couple things to be aware of. First, I squared and centered the rails as required. Before I drilled in the bed, I set the hitch in the rails and they moved slightly and had to recenter. This only tops a few minutes but I recommend setting the hitch in the rails before drilling. Second, the alignment for the front chassis brackets was challenging. You have to drill the bottom two bolt holes to ensure you can get a wrench in the nuts as the frame is enclosed there and reaching around the tank and brake lines. The instructions were not specific as to which holes to drill.

Needed 5th rails for a 99 F-250 bam etrailer got it. Needed a receiver hitch for my mother in laws van no challenge there. I love it. It’s very easy for me to setup. The only issue i had was rge breakout away cable snapped in have and i was not able to find a replacement. I had a friend who was able to make me another one.

by: Cindy B08/11/2016

purchased just the rails for 5th wheel receiver as we bought a used camper and the Reese Easy Loader came with it but owner did not want to remove rails from their truck. Technician was excellent in helping with installation and emailed us directions specific to my truck. Shipping was quick and install went well. We had room to use 12 bolts vs 10 so we did. We did install 1" forward in bed as we had room to do it. Better more forward when hauling. The knurled bolts were too short for our truck bed and we called and let them know. We had our own that were longer so no delay in install.

Fantastic!! In fact we just removed the hitch for the first time and rails are no issue in truck bed. Easy ineasy out after rails installed.

by: Jeffrey09/28/2021

Great product, shipped in really good time, etrailer was excellent in communication, only small problem was package was damaged in transit, and my item had some pretty bad scratches on it. But when I notified etrailer of this they gave me a choice of shipping it back in exchange for a new one or giving me a nice credit back if I could live with the scratches. I choose the latter and I thought it was great that they gave me the choice.

Without knowing the exact kit that was previously installed I cannot assure you that a new universal-fit install kit will use the exact same holes already drilled. The work of the original installer also comes into play here. A custom-fit install kit will save you a lot of time and effort on

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for a 1991 GMC Sierra 1500
  • I can help you get the correct rail kit for your truck. But since you have Valley rails and we don't carry Valley products anymore (they are no longer in business) I can't recommend you a bracket kit that would attach to those rails since we can't recommend mixing bracket and rail manufacturers. Instead I can recommend the part # RP30035 which is a universal rail kit that is confirmed as a fit for your 1991 GMC Sierra 1500.

  • Can Reese Universal 5th Wheel Base Rails # RP30035 Be Used With Higher-Rated Hitch Head Assembly
  • Base rails themselves are not capacity rated, so you can change out your existing 15K slider hitch for a higher-rated unit. The Reese Universal 10-Bolt 5th Wheel Base Rail Kit, part # RP30035, works with almost all brands and sizes of industry-standard 5th wheel hitches (the exceptions being Reese Elite/Signature Series, RBW Lil Rocker and Valley UBS hitches). As long as your new hitch is not one of the exceptions noted above it should be fully compatible with your existing Reese base

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Spacing and Available Fifth Wheel Hitch For 1995 Ford F250 and 2006 Chevy Duramax
  • The Reese Universal Base Rails, part # RP30035, will have a mounting hole measurement of 22 inches, center to center, from front to back and 29 inches, center to center, from side to side. It will accept the Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky fifth wheel hitches. I am attaching a photo that will show those dimensions. If your 1995 Ford F-250 is a short 6-foot bed you will need to use a slider fifth wheel hitch that will give you an extra 10 to 12 inches in travel

  • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation Kit for a 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 and Husky 5th Wheel Hitch
  • The 2010 Chevy Silverado 2500 and 2015 GMC Sierra 2500 use different under bed brackets so you would not be able to reuse the brackets but you can reuse the rails. For the brackets and hardware only you can either use # HT31852 or # HT31853. Another option is to use a different kit and get all new parts. the Reese universal kit # RP30035 costs less as a complete kit than either of the bracket kits above. But since it is a universal kit there is drilling into the truck frame required.

  • Will a Pro Series Fifth Wheel Hitch Fit Rails that a RBW Lil Rocker Hitch Fit
  • The RBW Lil Rocker hitch that you have is designed to fit the same fifth wheel rail kits as the Pro Series Hitch part # PS30093 that you referenced, so yes this hitch would easily replace your current hitch and would work well. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • 5th Wheel Install Kit for a 2017 Ford F-250 4x4 Short Bed and Valley Slider 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
  • If the installation kit is also a Valley then you will need to replace the installation kit because Valley went out of business a few years ago. I recommend a new kit any way because brackets and rails are not meant to be mixed among different manufacturers and you would have to replace all of the hardware anyway. For your 2017 Ford F-250 short bed I recommend Reese installation kit # RP50074-58. This is a custom kit which means you won't have to drill into the frame to install the brackets.

  • Installation Instructions for Reese 5th Wheel Bracket/Rail Kit for 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500
  • Reese offers a couple of different options for installing the industry standard bed rails in your truck. The # RP30035 is the universal rail kit. It's the inexpensive choice, but on the down side the install will require drilling into the truck frame and is estimated to take and average of 6 hours. The custom bracket/rail kit, part # RP50064-58 uses existing holes in the truck frame, but you will need to drill up through the bed to connect the rails to the brackets. Install time is estimated

  • 5th Wheel Replacement Rails and Hardware for a Reese 18K slider Hitch for Use on Multiple Trucks
  • I would like to caution you that the mounting hardware for the base rail install kits is only intended to be used for one installation. It is not recommended to re-use any mounting hardware. You will want to install a bracket and rail kit in each of your trucks to be used with your 18,000 pound Reese Slider 5th wheel hitch. For your both your 1997 Ford F-150, and your 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit would work # RP30035. This kit will work

  • Installation Instructions for Reese Universal 5th Wheel Install Kit for 1995 Ford F-250
  • Installation of Reese universal installation kit # RP30035 will not be exactly the same on a 1995 Ford F-250 as it is on a 1997 F-250. Check out page 11 of 23 in the instructions I have linked for the specific steps for your 1995 F-250. We do not have a video on that year. Your bed liner will have to be trimmed or removed to install the 5th wheel rails. I have linked a video that shows how to trim a bed liner for you.

  • Can 2017 Ram 2500 Short Bed with Ram Boxes Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer
  • You have almost the perfect storm for making it as difficult as possible to tow a fifth wheel trailer with your truck. The only solution for clearing the Ram Boxes is a Sidewinder pin box replacement like you mentioned but you can't use a Sidewinder with a B and W Companion hitch that installs into a Turnoverball gooseneck hitch. There's also not a fifth wheel rail kit we are aware of that can be installed with the Turnoverball installed too so only option would be to remove the Turnoverball

  • Reese Fifth Wheel Rail Kit that Fits 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 6-1/2 ft Bed
  • Reese has a custom fit fifth wheel rail kit that fits your 2021 Chevy Silverado 1500 6-1/2 foot bed with the part # RP56015-53 but they do not list the universal rail kit you mentioned as a fit. Unless your fifth wheel trailer has a tapered nose you'd need a slider hitch to provide turning clearance like with the Curt A16 slider part # C16521 which is nicer, quieter hitch with a round tube slider that operates smoother than square tube options.

  • Can You Install a 5th Wheel Rail Kit on a Cab and Chassis Pick-Up
  • I do have an option for you but there are not going to be any specific installation instructions on a cab and chassis model. The installation instructions for a set of 5th wheel base rails will also be specific to that particular kit you are using. I recommend the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit part # RP30035 as this will be your best option if you able to make one work but installation will be entirely up to you. I have however attached a copy of the installation instructions

  • Where Does Rear Rail Edge of Reese Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Go in Bed of 2001 Dodge Ram 2500
  • For your 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Short Bed you'll place the rear rail edge 28-7/16 inches from the rear edge of the truck bed from the # RP30035. See attached picture. You'll use the fifth wheel hitch to place the front rail.

  • Bracket Kit Recommendation to Use Husky Fifth Wheel Rails in Bed of 2015 Ram 2500
  • We can't recommend mixing fifth wheel bracket and rail manufacturers (designs are different and warranties get voided) so you'd have to either use all of the # RP30035 including the rails that come with it or since you have Husky rails already go with a Husky bracket kit part # HT32556 which is correct for your 2015 Ram 2500.

  • Compatibility of RBW Lil Rocker 5th Wheel Hitch with Reese Install Kit # RP50140-58 for 2005 Ram
  • I believe the RBW hitch you specified uses industry standard bed rails. You can check this by measuring the side to side and front to back spacing of the hitch mounting tabs. If front to back, measured center to center the tabs are about 22 inches apart, and are either 10 inches, 20-1/2 or 29 inches apart side to side, measured center to center, the hitch will fit industry standard rails like those from Reese, Curt, Valley, Husky or Draw-Tite. I'd recommend the Reese Custom 5th Wheel
