Easy-to-Access Brake Controller
The Tekonsha POD is designed to mount in any direction, and it's especially suited for mounting on near-vertical dashes. All the controls are on the front of the module, so you can still access them with the controller tucked away in a convenient place.
Braking Output
Braking output is the maximum amount of power that will be applied to your trailer's brakes. How much braking output you need is determined by the weight of your trailer; a heavier trailer will need more power to bring it to a stop. You want to set the braking output as high as you can without locking up the brakes. Once you've set up the brake controller the first time, you shouldn't need to adjust the settings until the trailer load changes, you switch trailers, or road conditions change. Use the thumbwheel on the side to change the braking output level. The output setting will appear as a number on the digital display, with a higher number indicating higher braking power.
Manual Override
The Tekonsha POD keeps the manual override within easy reach on the front of the module, great for stopping sway or controlling your trailer's momentum in emergencies. Push the slide-bar lever to activate the trailer's brakes and brake lights without you having to apply the brakes on your tow vehicle, perfect for limiting trailer movement while you re cruising.
Quick, Simple Installation
Because inertia plays no role in the functioning of this controller, you do not have to mount the unit at any particular angle. Your mounting options are limitless, with the controller designed with all of the controls on the front of the module so you can access them even if it's mounted upside down.
If your vehicle already has a plug-in brake controller wiring harness, just connect the unit to it. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a vehicle-specific wiring harness (sold separately) to plug into. If a harness is unavailable for your vehicle, hardwiring will be necessary.
Installation Accessories
See also etrailer.com's exclusive 7- and 4-way brake control installation kit (ETBC7 - sold separately) if you don't already have a 7-way plug at the back of your vehicle.
Note: If a custom brake control wiring adapter is not available for your vehicle, a 20-amp circuit breaker (sold separately) may be required for installation.
Time-Delayed Braking
The Tekonsha POD comes equipped with time-delayed braking. Every time you apply the brakes in your vehicle, a signal is sent - via the brake switch - to the POD. The controller then sends power out to your trailer brakes to activate them with an intensity set by you, at a rate determined by you. The amount of braking power (output) can be adjusted to suit your preference, the road conditions, the type of trailer, and the weight of your load. To determine which levels are best for your application, test your towing setup and choose what feels right.

We have a Honda Ridgeline and needed this for our camper trailer. It was nice ordering the specific plug in wire for the Ridgeline and therefore eliminating hard wiring, just plugged it in. It was rough getting to the factory plug under the dash by the emergency brake petal switch. My hands are not small enough, ha ha. But success was had. Plugged into the controller and mounted it and u-wall-a. It works the way it is suppose to, I like that. A good quality unit that does what it is suppose to. thanks.202036
Very happy with this product. It fit nicely in my truck and plugged right into the factory wiring harness. Total installation time was under an hour. Easy to adjust, and works perfectly with my 5th wheel trailer. I simply pulled out the little storage cubby from the dash, cut the back off, slid the controller in, bolted it together, and stuck it all back in the dash. Looks and works great.610737
Exactly what I was looking for and needed ! It was delivered very quick . Actually I just ordered a complete wiring harness from you tonight . Your service and follow up is great1520942

Worked out perfectly for me, super easy installation with adapter harness. Work's flawlessly, easy one hand gain control with control's on front. My truck had nice cubby it fit in so out of the way and seamless look. Thanks for a great product and service.1043278
Purchased a Teckonsha Voyager brake controller and the ETBC7 install kit. The instruction an video were very clear and easy to follow. Installed on a 2007 Ford Ranger Sport. Tech support was also very helpful on the one question I did have.722791
I have been completely satisfied with this item. It has operated as advertised an has had no problems.

I sell and install a variety of components for various companies and individuals. I have zero comebacks from this company. Not that I haven't received defective parts but they always make it right. And that is good business.1774022

I have a Toyota Tacoma (06). I had the controller installed in less than five minutes. One minute to gather the tools: drill/bits, screw driver, and tape. I thought tape would be helpful to hold the ground screw to the driver given the tight are under the dash. One minute to drill the ground hole. One minute to install the ground screw. One minute to plug in the cables and fish the wire under the stirring wheel to allow for the controller to be mounted in the storage area found on Tacoma trucks dash. I guess I was wrong. It only took four minutes. I did not need to put the tools away I was off to do other projects. I rate the product as good because I have not tried it on the trailer yet.86205
I received my purchase very quickly. I just installed the control and wire harness today. Installation was easy, all you need are basic hand tools and a drill with a small bit. Haven't had chance to test it out yet but, when I do I'll update. 388664
Easy to install in my Toyota-Tacoma 2012. I pull my Travel Trailer and this break controller worked very well and with just a little bit adjustment. Also this item was shipped very fast.89077
The brake controller we purchased and had professionally installed works perfectly. We had it installed in our RV for use when towing a large vehicle trailer. It's reliable and simple. It was a great purchase!1739511

Thanks to etrailer’s video “Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee”, the installation of a Tekonsha PowerTrac controller on my 2003 Jeep was very straight forward (and I’m not a car guy!). Like in the video, I used the wiring kit (#5506). I forgot to order a pigtail wiring harness but was able to pick one up locally. Took the trailer out last weekend and the brakes worked great.517695
The controller was a great option for our 2021 forest river FSX and gave me plenty of control over the brakes. It does require a adjustment time to time but has always worked when brakes are applied. The setup and installation were a breeze and has worked for many trips.1722801

The drawtite hitch and trailer wiring harness fit great. Instructions were clear and concise. Installation was a breeze. I am ready to tow my little trailer now. As soon as I get the brake controller installed, I will be ready for my big trailer. 733602
I ordered everything to install hitch an and 7 pin plug. Everything went great. Parts were all perfect and instructions easy to follow.1725172

The control works great. Nice incremental application of wheel from nothing to hard on! Led light goes from green to red also in incremental degrees. Installation was a snap in my 2008 F150 with tow package. Just Plug in the control clip and the other end in the terminal above and to the right of the computer check terminal. Rather than have it below my dash I opted for the cove below the lighter. Etrailer did a nice job of getting out to me right away and kept me informed where this was at all the way to my door. Good Job!79780
Product arrived quickly and installed very easily. Plug and play with the correct adapter (3035-P Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ford, Lincoln, Mercury) for a 2001 Ford F-150. Controller is very easy to set the braking on your trailer. 268066
If your truck comes with the tow haul package.... this item is literally plug and play. I had it wired up and all mounted inside of thirty minutes. It's literally 4 wires and the stock system wires are labeled along with the brake contoller. I haven't tested it yet but so far I am thoroughly impressed!304865
This part was quick and easy to order and I received it sooner than expected. My mechanic said the installation was easily accomplished and looks great on my car. I would not hesitate to order from etrailer again!1315604

I ordered the powertrac with the 22292, 2011 ford F150 wiring adapter, It works great. 15 mins, and I had everything ready to go. It is a little sensitive to adjust but ones you get the feel for it, it takes no time to adjust. very happy with this unit, I would recommend this unit to everyone.380737
Installed on 2003 Toyota Tundra with the factory tow package. Installation was a breeze with the included vehicle specific wiring adapter. It took me about 45 minutes total. Looks professionally installed. Easy to use. Set the adjustment for your specific trailer and go!558057
Purchased this as part of all parts required to convert 1996 Jayco over to electric brakes. Very happy with results. Surprised to see after winter in storage that the battery supply still shows full charge.1560415

Perfectly wired directly to existing wiring that I had for the previous brake controller I replaced with the, Draw Tite I Command. This will make it a lot easier should I choose to upgrade the unit in the future. Fantastic customer service from Joshua as well.940470
Actually, I haven’t used it. I have an original Tekonsha that I have used for about 16 years with 3 previous cars and trailers and it is still working fine. It gives me much more information about the operation of the trailer brakes than the model I purchased from you. Since that controller is very old and yours was not very expensive, I decided to keep it as an emergency spare. Thanks for Checking,1500173

The Tekonsha Powertrac part # 39523 with the install harness part # 3021-P will easily install in your 2012 Ram 1500 and won't require you to take the truck to a dealer to reprogram it. You'll basically just plug in the controller under your dash using the adapter and you'd be set. view full answer...
To install the Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Time Delayed # 39523 will use the wiring harness # 20127 to splice into wires under your dash that have already been run. You will simply use butt connectors # 05731-5. view full answer...
There are no brake controller plug and play options on the 2011 Chevrolet Express Van, but a brake controller installation will be fairly simple if your van has the factory tow package with 7-way trailer connector.
If your van has the factory tow package, there will be a bundle of 4 or 5 wires under the dash for a brake controller. They will be wrapped with a white tag that indicates the function of each wire. The wires are cut off, so you will just need a universal brake controller view full answer...
After looking at some pictures of the interior on the 2013 Ford Explorer I could see two possible mounting locations for a brake controller. First, there does not appear to be a lot of room to the right of the steering wheel (if sitting in the driver seat) but the other side seems to have enough space below the vent left of the steering wheel. It is much less likely that there is anything behind that section. But you can crawl under the dash and shine a light up there to be sure.

When a trailer is connected the Powertrac it will light up green, when you apply the brakes it will then turn red. If no trailer is connected either the light won't come on or it will blink.
Try hooking up a trailer to the vehicle to see if the lights change. view full answer...
The red light being on when you press the brakes is normal for the Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller # 39523, and the green light should be on when you have a trailer connected. If it is not on then, and only when the headlights are on with your Frontier, it sounds like you have a short or a connector on your trailer that is possibly corroded, which can interfere with the signal and only get the power needed with the added amperage of the headlights being on.

On 2007 (new body style) through 2013 GM trucks did not have a brake controller port. Instead GM provided a tow package wire bundle under the dash, to the left of the steering column, held together with a white tag.

Tow Package red to brake controller black for 12 volt power
Tow Package dark blue to brake controller blue for output to trailer brakes

First, confirm that there are no other items that generate radio frequency interference (RFI) mounted within one foot of the controller; items such as cell phones and CB radios can interfere with its operation and could affect the display.

If you have a factory 7-way at the rear of your 2013 Ford Explorer then you would want to use a Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3035-P to simply plug into the back of a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 brake controller # 90885 and then will plug into a port under the dash, near the center console.

For your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the Tekonsha Power Trac Electronic Brake Controller # 39523 along with the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3016 will be all that you need for complete installation. Because your vehicle comes with a factory tow package, you are able to simply plug one end of the Wiring Adapter into a built-in port beneath the dash and the other end into the Power Trac Brake Controller. You do not need a trailer brake fuse for under the hood.

The Tekonsha PowerTrac Electronic Brake Controller - 1 to 2 Axles - Time Delayed # 39523 does not come with an adapter cable. If you have the factory tow package, I recommend the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Nissan and Infiniti # 3050-P. The electric trailer brakes on your camper should, if wired correctly be independent of the auxiliary battery. The brake stop lamp switch is located at the top of the brake pedal of your 2008 Chevy Express. You're looking for the cold side circuit wire that only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. This should be a white wire, but I'd recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to confirm.

Since you have a 7-Way you will only need a few more components to complete a brake controller install on your vehicle.

This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from view full answer...
I'm not entirely sure what brake controller or wiring you have on your 2013 Toyota Tacoma, but I can tell you that to add a brake controller to your Tacoma you will need to first add Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118496 and then the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The way a brake controller works is sort of like you described. In many proportion controllers, you actually have to be moving to get voltage when applying the brake but will see voltage when applying the manual override. The controller actually senses how much the vehicle is decelerating using an internal sensor. It does not monitor how hard you press the pedal but it does sense when you are pressing the brake. Of course usually how hard you press the brake does effect the rate of deceleration.
