Best Subaru Crosstrek Car Awnings

So far so good! Everything came ready for a quick and easy install. Quality seems good and sturdy and mounting options allowed it to easily match up on the underside of my Yakima HD bars. Been deployed a few times so far and out on one camping trip. Over all I’m very happy with the sun seeker!

It’s a great awning and looks nice on the 4 Runner

I’m a Yakima user for many years, this seems to be on par with everything else they make. Which is top notch. It was easy to install and easy to use. Might need two sets of hands on a windy day. But so far I love it.

I sent this item back to you because when it arrived it was partially out of the box and it was apparent it had been someone else's return as it was just shoved back into the box with no care. When I sent it back to you I advised to cancel the order, and that I would source one from a different vendor. The next day you advised a new one had been reshipped requiring me to make several phone calls back to you to cancel this order before it was delivered to me. Fortunately, you were able to intercept the order while it was still close to your home city. I was not pleased with this transaction and felt that in your desire to get things shipped out, you cut corners on the quality of packaging and due care to send out the item in a new and undamaged condition. I also feel your customer service is lacking in that you do not listen to the customer. This was evidenced by having to talk with several individuals to repeat the same message several times for the return, and to get the new unsolicited order cancelled.

I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but what I like is that the mounting brackets come with inserts that work on Yakima round bars, I have searched with no luck to find something that fits my round bars and these are specifically made to fit round bars as well as all others.

The Thule awning is a high quality awning that can easily be opened by an individual in 2 minutes. I installed it on my home built tear drop trailer in a couple hours using custom aluminum anodized mount brackets. It would be awesome if one could purchase just the awning for these types of custom applications. I'll save the key-lock Thule brackets in the event it gets placed on my Subaru.

The Awning provided shade and with the net tent added protected me kitchen from bees and wasps while cooking. Easy to install. On my Tundra I needed to reverse the mounting bracket to allow the bottom of the tent to reach the ground. It worked out perfectly.

I give this product five stars for the concept, and one star for the execution. The domed design is brilliant for the back of an SUV or CUV, because it allows the rear hatch to be open while the awning is up. I camp out of the back of my CUV, so having a large, dry, covered area is great for when it turns rainy (or if the sun is really hot). The problem is the tension rods that form the structure of the dome. They are at least an inch too long, and I found it literally impossible to bend them enough to tuck their ends into the pockets that are supposed to hold them (I spent many hours trying before I gave up from exhaustion). If you possess exceptional upper body strength this might not be a problem for you. If you're just an average guy, forget about it. Also, the elastic that holds together the individual tubes that make up the tension rods is too weak. When you go to take the awning down and need to pull the rods out of the channels in the fabric that they run through, they fall apart and get stuck. This makes removing them a difficult and frustrating task. Both these problems can be remedied, but the review rules prevent me from describing how.

This is a good awning. Bought mine for a larger teardrop camper and used the Seasucker vacuum mounts to secure it. So far so good.

Yakima Slim Shady 8x8 Awning is an excellent addition to my Yakima MegaWarrior + Extension rack & solar power enabled off-grid rig!!!! Yakima/etrailer box was severely damaged in cross-country delivery but the awning was so well protected it suffered only scuffing on the cover. Installation on a rack this high requires 2 ladders & assistance but slow & steady was very successful. I can't wait to set up camp & sit in the shade enjoying cool refreshments from my solar powered refrigerator.

So happy with this awning. Easy on and easy off. Super secure and no rattle while driving. Provides great shade.

I was going to purchase an ARB awning until I saw the Thule. Perfect size for my 2020 Ford Transit Connect with crank out awning instead of the ARB's hand unroll and roll back up to store. Enclosed casing instead of a zippered bag as well as a quality build overall. The added cost for a quality product was well worth it.

A little confusion on the mounting adapters. Pre 2018 means the trac screws will not fit a newer Thule Rack. Straight forward job once the hardware is figured out.

Installed this Batwing on my Intech Micro Toy Hauler - Only thing I had to do was buy some 2" bolts so that I could bolt her to the rack. Easy to install and super easy to set up. In a few years I can tell you how well it holds up. From the looks of it my guess would be that it will hold up pretty well.

In all very happy with the BatWing awning. I do wish it was heavier duty fabric! No issues during the first year of use. Would purchase again!

Love this awning! I installed a Batwing awning on a RAM Promaster High Roof van. Had to purchase extended legs for it so they will reach the ground. It is great to be able to be protected from the elements at both the side and the back of the van and while moving between side and back. Some things to be aware of: 1) At least one ladder is needed for opening and closing the awning in this high-roof situation. And it is best to do it with 2 people. 2. With the crossbars mounted on the vehicle's standard middle and rear mounting posts, the awning does not completely cover the sliding door. The front 24 to 30" or so of the door is exposed. If the crossbars are mounted to the front and middle mounting points, most of the sliding door will be covered, but the awning will not extend as far out on the rear. 3. Rain will come through between the side of the van and the awning. The crossbars need to be shifted as far to the driver's side as possible in order to minimize the gap between the side of the van and the awning. 4. The height of these vans makes the awning even more susceptible to being pulled up by wind gusts. Make sure the awning is secured to the ground. This is another reason why it is best to open the awning with 2 people.

Fast shipping and great communication. I bought my crossbars from etrailer.com and came back for the awning. They were cheaper than [another company], too. Item arrived early and well packaged. Got to install it today and everything worked and the awning deployed well. Would recommend and would buy from etrailer again.

This is my second Batwing awning and I would not camp without one.

I will just email this review to you here. So far the Thule roof mount awning appears to be a 5-Star product. Just now have it installed. This awning is very nice. It mounts tight to the roof with a foam rubber gasket to eliminate any potential rattles while driving or rain leaking in under the awning when in use. It has a low profile to minimize wind resistance while driving. The adapter kit which secures the Awning to the roof of the ProMaster Van is excellent quality and attaches quickly and securely. However, placing the awning into the adapter brackets is not as simple as the directions indicate. Once you figure out the proper procedure required(which is a bit different than the directions) it all went together nicely. Here are a couple of pictures. from this morning's installation. The compact Batwing was just the right size for our camping trailer. The awning was easy to install and easy to set up. Very anxious to enjoy it this summer. I would definitely recommend for those seeking shade in a clever product.????

Made well and great design! Using on a truck camper to replace a retractable awning. Comes with a storage bag that is large enough to easily pack the awning, pole and stakes in when done. No undersized bag here, they thought this design out! Great price and great design!

Thule is top line and this awning is no exception. Did not have much chance to use it in the last year due to family issues, but plan a big year camping this summer. When installing be sure to mount into structural support of your trailer or RV. I used a stud locator that also finds steel studs and rechecked everything before drilling. These awnings are a heavy and wanted to make it was secure and exactly parallel to the trailer. Worth the extra money for a top line awning and the extra time to install to make sure all was done perfect. etrailer the place to buy!

The install was simple and it looks awesome on the back of my toyhauler.
