Curt A20 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider Installation - 2022 Ram 2500

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the CURT A20 5th wheel hitch with the R20 slider base on our 2022 RAM 2500 with the factory puck system. So if your RAM has the factory prep package for towing, then this is the kit for you. It's gonna utilize the A20 5th wheel hitch, the R20 slider base, and that adapter piece down at the bottom to attach that whole slider hitch system to those factory pucks. So if you don't have that factory prep package this isn't the kit for you. You can get that with just the slider base in the 5th wheel hitch and forget about that adapter piece.

So, if you're looking to install a fifth wheel hitch into your truck bed and you've got the factory puck system, that's definitely the way to go. Whether you go with this option from Reese or any of the other ones, either from B&W or Curt that you can find on our site, be sure to check our fit guide to find the right fits for your truck, you're gonna have a really easy time getting it installed because it just drops right into those existing holes, slots into place and lets you operate it like normal. Then whenever you choose to remove it from your truck bed, if you ever do, you've got full bed access because they don't have any above bed rails in our way, obstructing the truck bed. Now, this particular option from Reese can handle 20,000 pounds of gross trailer weight rating.

Now the Patriot is going to be a good choice for a lot of you RAM owners, because the bed sides are naturally a little bit higher than some of the other brands of trucks out there. This one has a bunch of different adjustability and that's just due to the amount of holes here that you can mount your arms. You can also flip the arms to where it's gonna put it a little bit different as far as cab distance and height.

And today we're putting it on the Curt adapter for the above-bed puck system that comes OEM with this 2022 Ram 2500. Right away we wanna point out that we are in a shorter six foot bed on this Ram. So this would really only work with a longer bed and eight for one just because of it's a static hitch, it's not gonna move around. So it would work with a slider.

Now, as time has progressed, trucks have now started coming with an OEM prep package. And what that means, you might have heard of it as the puck system. That means you have drop-in spots where arms can attach for a fifth wheel and that makes it nice and easy. You don't have to install anything, because from the factory it's ready to be able to drop a fifth wheel in place. Now for something like this with a six foot bed, you are gonna wanna look at something with a sliding base and that's where the companion, I think is one of the best that you can get on the market.



Curt A25 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with S25 Slider Review - 2020 Ram 2500

Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the Curt A25 fifth wheel hitch on an S25 slider with the OEM prep package. So, we have a standard rail system that works with that on a 2020 Ram 2500. Now, this system is gonna be a great configuration for those of you with a six foot bed and the OEM puck package on your Ram, and reason being is that's gonna allow you to slide as you need to make sharper turns and it's gonna just to head back, and that way you can avoid hitting your cab corners when you have to make those sharp turns. Now, this system, having the OEM puck systems, means that the rail, means that it's gonna bolt up to it and you're gonna get everything be able to drop in an ISR standard configuration, meaning that you can really drop pretty much any fifth wheel in and they do have ones that are already set up for the OEM prep package that drop in. The downside with that is unless you're planning on keeping your truck forever, that fifth wheel is gonna have to stay with that whereas with this system, you can swap out to a different fifth wheel or if you get a different truck, you can take this, get different rails, if it's a Ford or a Chevy, and be able to adapt it and still be able to use your fifth wheel.



B and W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ram 2500

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Patriot Sliding Fifth Wheel from B&W in a 2018 Ram 2,500 short bed. Now, B&W is one of my personal favorites when it comes to fifth wheel or goosenecks in general, the quality is awesome, and they really do have a nice product, and this is no different, and it's got a lot of nice features. In fact, one of the great things about this is you can take this head up and pull it off which seems like a small thing, but really it takes a lot of weight off. If you ever plan on taking this outta your bed, to take the whole thing out can get pretty heavy. So being able to remove a pretty to heavy section of it allows you to get this out, and you can still use your truck bed. Now this is a great option for anyone with a 6 and 1/2 foot bed, because if you're pulling a fifth wheel trailer, no problem, you'll be able to hook up.



Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ram 2500

This hitch is designed to easily hook up and disconnect from your fifth wheel trailers. This hitch is designed for an above bed rail set up like we have here.It's going to allow you to easily not only put your fifth wheel hitch into the bed of your truck, but also take it out to give you total bed access. You can see it has a very nice wide base to give you plenty of stability when pulling that fifth wheel trailer. We're going to have a 16,000 pound gross trailer weight, and a 4,000 pound vertical load limit.Our head is going to pivot in four different directions, so we can not only hook up but unhook on unlevel ground.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 RAM 2500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt E16 fifth wheel trailer hitch with R16 slider, part number 16516.So here's what our E16 hitch and R16 slider looks like once we have it installed. And this is going to allow us to tow a fifth wheel trailer down the road safely. And a common issue when you're towing a fifth wheel, is that we have a lot of clearance issues if you don't have a full eight foot bed. Whenever we go to make that tight turn, there is a chance that we could make contact with our cab when we're going around a corner.Our slider's going to allow us to have 12 inches of extra clearance whenever we're going around those turns slowly. So if we come to the handle here, pull it out and we're going to turn it towards the cab of the truck and that's going to allow our hitch to slide 12 inches towards the back, giving us that much more clearance. And it will lock back into place in the maneuvering position, so we can go around that turn slowly.On the passenger side, it is going to have an indicator.

Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2017 Ram 2500

Today, on our 2017 Ram 2500 we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with R16 Slider, part number C16521. Here's what our 5th wheel hitch looks like fully installed. It's going to mount using our base rails here and it's going to allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer. This is a six foot bed truck. If you've ever towed a 5th wheel with a short bed truck, you know that it comes in handy to have a slider like we have here whenever you're making tight turns. We come to this handle and we pull out. We can turn it and our 5th wheel's going to slide back 12" to give us extra clearance so we don't have to worry about our 5th wheel trailer hitting our cab. The slider is a nonbinding slider, so no matter what angle you're pulling your trailer at, it's going to be able to slide freely back and forth. Whenever we're done making that tight turn and getting around the corner, we can straighten our trailer out, straighten our truck out, and our slider's going to slide right back and lock into position. The jaw here is a two-piece jaw.

Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Ram 2500

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 RAM 2500, we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with R20 Slider, part number C16536. So here's what our 5th wheel hitch and slider look like when they're fully installed. Now, this is gonna allow us to tow a 5th wheel trailer with our truck. If you have less than a eight food bed, when you tow with the 5th wheel, the slider's gonna greatly benefit us because it's gonna give us 12 inches of travel, forward and back, allowing to have enough clearance so that our trailer is not gonna make contact with our cab.Now, if we come to the side here, we can see that it's in the towing position. But if we come to the lever and we pull out on the lever and slightly turn it, we'll see that there's a red notch right here. This is gonna allow the 5th wheel to slide back into the maneuvering position.

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ram 2500, we're going to be taking a look at and showing how to install Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails, part number DM8552025-71. This is what our rails look like when they're installed. These are going to provide a connection point for your slider for fifth wheel. They're going to install fairly simple. Here are all your brackets from underneath the bed, and your rails on top are going to be powder-coated finish to resist rust and corrosion. They're going to come with all the necessary hardware to get it installed, and mounts to existing holes that are already in the frame.The first we're going to do is start our installation.
