We don't typically recommend bike rack covers for the back of a passenger vehicle like your 2019 Tesla Model 3, since it's going to create added drag and potentially additional stress on the rack; we typically only recommend using them on RVs since the rack is going to be mostly shielded from most of the wind. If you want to use a bike rack cover on the Hollywood Racks TRS Bike Rack # HR3000.
I recommend using the Swagman Bike Cover for RVs - Large - 2 Bikes # S24FR since it's designed... view full answer...
The weight of the EcoHitch part # EH84GR which fits your 2018 Tesla Model 3 is 45 lbs. When not in use you could use the access hole cover part # 306-XA2002 which would totally cover up the hole and would give you same aerodynamics as before the hitch was installed. view full answer...
The only time I would recommend the Saris Bones Hitch 4 Bike Rack # SA884 over the Thule Apex XT 4 Bike Rack # TH9025XT is if the weight of the bike rack was the only factor since the Bones weighs 22 lbs while the Apex XT weighs 35 lbs.
The Apex XT has integrated bike and rack locks as well as an anti-rattle knob which means it's a tool-free installation and you don't have to remember to grab the locks before you leave. The cradles are also spaced apart 7" center to center which is more... view full answer...
Adding a trailer hitch to a vehicle like the 2021 Tesla Model 3 you were looking at at your local Tesla dealer will not void the vehicle warranty.
This is due to you being protected by the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, passed by Congress in 1975, ensures that consumers can install aftermarket parts without the fear of voiding their warranty. The only way the warranty would be voided is if the install of the component or the component itself caused the damage to the vehicle.

On the 2018 models it was true that you had to trim a hole in the lower rear fascia. However for your 2020 Tesla Model 3 to install the # EH84GR It is no longer necessary to trim it because they come with a knock out in that location so that the lower hitch opening can attach to the hitch's main crossbeam.
I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out on a similar 2021 Tesla Model 3. view full answer...
The Curt 2-inch trailer hitch part # C45FR is a fit for your 2019 Tesla Model 3 and is by far the best value hitch option out there. It's a new fit at this time (April 2020) so we don't have much feedback on it or an install video.
I did attach an install instructions link that is very detailed and will walk you through the process of the install as well.
You will have to cut a small hole in the lower fascia panel for the hitch opening to fit through which I attached a picture of. view full answer...
For a hitch that fits your 2023 Model Y I recommend the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT58MR. It features a bolt-on installation and will be completely hidden with your bumper panel in place.
For wiring, check out the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This uses zero contact interface sensors so you won't be splicing into the sensitive wiring on your Tesla. This will give you a 4-way to power your trailer's signal lights.
I have attached some installation... view full answer...
For your 2021 Tesla Model Y I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. The echo plugs in line with your existing 7-way at the back of your vehicle. It is controlled through your smartphone via Bluetooth. Since this does not require any wiring, it is ideal for an electric vehicle like your Tesla.
This is a proportional brake controller so the trailer brakes will activate in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. It also uses a triple-axis accelerometer... view full answer...
The Kuat Transfer V2 1 bike rack part # KU64FR and the RockyMounts Mono Rail part # RKY10007 are both really great options but I would go with the Kuat for ease of loading since the bike wouldn't have to be lifted quite as high and because it is slightly lighter weight. The Kuat is 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to nearest portion of the rack when folded up whereas the RockyMounts is 12 inches. view full answer...
We do have a few great hidden hitch solutions for your 2022 Tesla Model 3. The most hidden is the Stealth hitch part # 391TES317 and the EcoHitch part # EH84GR which have removable lower sections that allow it to be totally hidden when not in use if you like. These do cost a little more though. We also have the Curt Hitch part # C45FR which only has the lower hitch opening that hangs below the bumper. This is a mostly hidden design that costs quite a bit less.
So really it comes down to... view full answer...
We do have a hitch and wiring for your 2023 Tesla Model 3. For a hitch I recommend the etrailer # e33ZR. This bolts on over your rear bumper beam and will be concealed aside from the receiver hanging down at the back. If you would rather have a completely hidden option check out the EcoHitch Stealth # EH84GR. This has a removable receiver so it wont' be visible when not in use.
For wiring you can use the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and... view full answer...
Those are a couple of great options you mentioned, but between the RockyMounts WestSlope 3-Bike Rack # RKY10223 and the Kuat Transfer V2 3-Bike Rack # KU24FR, I would definitely go with the Kuat Transfer V2 # KU24FR.
There are a number of reasons for this, including ease of use, clearances, and fit of bikes. Starting with ease of use, while the WestSlope uses a threaded hitch pin that requires you to use a ratchet like # PTW38106-24 to install, with the Transfer V2 you simply slide its... view full answer...
We have a few different mounting options for recovery boards, like the Maxtrax Xtreme Recovery Boards # MA74FV you were looking at, but they're a bit more specific to the style of ladder rack you're attaching to. Maxtrax offers pins like part # MA73PR and # MA83PR that can slide into a t-slot on a crossbar or platform rack. They have small holes to allow for locks like part # MA22PR to help prevent theft.
Rhino-Rack offers the # RR43159-RMTXMPS and # RR43235 which can also attach to a... view full answer...
I reached out to my contact at EcoHitch to see if they have seen this issue before with the EcoHitch # 306-X7201 on your Tesla and if they have any suggestions. My contact did say that the Tesla rear bumper has quite a bit of tolerance from the factory, so it's something they occasionally see but more often there's enough clearance available to hook up safety chains.
With that being said, clearance is obviously an issue for you based on the picture you attached. My contact said they have... view full answer...
Thank you for your purchase and for all of the info!
The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # DT58MR is still an excellent choice for your 2021 Tesla Model Y and it allows you to replace that removeable fascia so you won't need a hitch cover. The only other trailer hitch available at this time (May 2022) is the EcoHitch # EH39FR. This is also a solid option but it sits at a higher price-point and you install a bracket on the fascia cover so you can still utilize it. So the EcoHitch might stick out... view full answer...
We have three hitches for your Tesla that are totally hidden when not in use. You can check these out:
Stealth Hitches Hidden Rack Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" Part # 391TES317
Stealth Hitches Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver w/ Towing Kit - Custom Fit - 2", Part # 391TES317T
EcoHitch Stealth Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2", Part # EH84GR view full answer...
The big advantage you get from the Stealth hitch part # 391TES317 is the detachable lower hitch opening which gives you ability to have a totally invisible setup when that's desired. For some people this is a really appealing and great option as some people REALLY don't like the look of trailer hitches. For others the mostly hidden Curt # C45FR or etrailer # e33ZR is the better option since the cost is less and the hitch still functions well. With these hitches only the hitch opening is visible. view full answer...
The best trailer hitch receiver for your 2022 Tesla Model 3 is from Stealth Hitches, for a number of reasons. First is that the receiver and ball mount are removable, so when you aren't using your bike rack or towing, your Tesla is going to completely retain its factory appearance. It also does not require any type of drilling into your Tesla's frame, which not only makes the install easier but is great for your vehicle.
