So the body of the hitch is indeed hidden behind the bumper fully, but the receiver will still show and will not be hidden on your 2016 Tesla Model X. While the # 119250KIT does need to attach directly to the positive post of a vehicle battery it does not draw any amperage unless there's a trailer connected to it so you do not need to worry about this draining the vehicle batteries when not towing. With a circuit connected to the harness amperage can be drawn but if there's no where for the amperage to go the pins of the connector (while active) would not drain the battery.

When installing the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH84GR on 2018 Tesla Model 3's they needed to cut a 3-1/2" or 4" oval l(the larger opening will just give you more clearance to work with) on the underbody trim to make room for the drop-down 2" receiver.
