For your 2001 VW Beetle, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11066 is the correct fit as long as you don't have the Turbo. There is not a fit for the Turbo model. If you are using this hitch for a bike rack or cargo carrier you will also need stabilization strap # 18050.
If you don't want to be required by warranty to use that strap, then you can instead use the Draw-Tite # 24679.
If you will be doing light towing, I recommend the Upgraded Circuit Protected... view full answer...
We have trunk-mounted bike racks which will work with a 2003 Beetle, so long as it is not a convertible. The straps should be positioned according to the manufacturer, which may have specific directions for this vehicle. For example, the Saris Bones # SA805BL requires the use of Hatch Huggers for Saris Trunk Mount Bike Racks # SA3035 to replace the top hooks when used with an '03 Beetle. The Yakima HangOut # Y02637 is in a similar boat, as it requires the use of Glass Hatch Hook Adapter... view full answer...
In order to attach a cargo carrier to your 2006 VW Beetle, you would first need to install a hitch. The compatible hitch I recommend is the Draw-Tite # 24679 because you won't be required to use stabilizing straps like you would with a cargo carrier when using the Curt hitch.
There are cargo carriers that are going to work for your '06 Beetle, but please keep in mind both of the hitches that fit your car are Class I rated and have 1-1/4" receivers, which unfortunately rules out the use... view full answer...

Do you have a 2000 VW New Beetle? If so there is a trailer hitch that fits both the Turbo and non-Turbo models, the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24679.
I have added a link to a video of this hitch being installed on a New Beetle for you to check out. view full answer...
There are two sets of safety cables that are required by law for all flat-towing application. There are what is referred to as short and long safety cabes. Short safety cables connect the base plates to the vehicle and long safety cables connect the base plates to the RV's trailer hitch.
The short safety cables included with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX3824 can be wrapped around anywhere on the vehicle's frame and base plates crossbar. The location of the short cables are not... view full answer...
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11066 that you referenced will fit your 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle TDI. This hitch is confirmed to fit all model Beetles except for Turbo (turbo gas engine) models.

The Curt X-5 Fifth Wheel Adapter, part # 16310 is designed to fit B And W Square Shank Turnover Ball Hitches. If you have the B And W installed in your vehicle, the X5 will work well for you. The weight capacity of this adapter is 20,000 lbs.
If you have the Curt Double-Lock, Flip and Store gooseneck hitch, you would use the Curt X-5 Adapter, part # C16210. If you have a Curt EZr Double-Lock gooseneck hitch, the adapter you need is part # C16220.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11066 is what I recommend for a 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle (All Models Including TDI). It has a 1-1/4" opening which is all that is available for this vehicle but I do still have an option to give you the 2" opening. In order to do this you'll need an adapter, the Brophy Hitch Adapter part # HT5R or part # HTAD but please keep in mind these reduce hitch capacity by 50%. view full answer...
The Roadmaster tow dolly # RM-2050-1 is limited to vehicle tires with 12 to 16 inch wheels. This is the wheel size not the overall tire diameter. It looks like the stock tire size on the 2006 VW Beetle was 205/55-16. If that is the size you have on your Beetle then it will fit the tow dolly. Based on the overall tire diameter you provided I would say that it is likely that you have 205/55-16 tires.
The dolly only accepts wheels up to 16 inches in diameter. Roadmaster only has the one... view full answer...

I'm glad to hear you like the trailer hitch on your 2010 Nissan Maxima! While there are hitch fits for your 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle, these aren't the same as the hitch for your Maxima so you'll need to get a whole new hitch due to the overall design of the hitch and how it fits to the vehicle.
For '98 New Beetle I recommend picking up the Curt Trailer Hitch # C11066 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver that will fit directly to the holes in the frame of your vehicle.

In the picture you submitted it looks like your truck has a set of industry standard fifth wheel rails. The Reese slider hitch part # RP30084 that you referenced would fit those rails if I am correct.

I do not recommend using the hook on stabilization strap # 18050 on glass because it could end up damaging the glass on your 1999 VW New Beetle. What you could do, instead of using the hook part, is to replace it with strap # Y02623 or hook the hook part to the loop of this strap.
The Yakima strap has that padded cylinder that would be inside the vehicle. This will disperse the weight/force on the glass over a wider area. view full answer...
The Draw-Tite Class I receiver hitch, part # 24679 is indeed a fit for the 2005 VW Beetle with a turbo Diesel engine. I've confirmed this with Draw-Tite.
Once the hitch is installed, it'd make a perfect attachment point for a 2-bike rack. I've linked you to our selection of class I compatible 2 bike racks.

I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite about hitch # 24679 and a 2002 VW New Beetle Turbo Diesel. the only model that this trailer hitch will not fit is the Turbo S model. If yours is branded as a Turbo S it will not fit, otherwise it fits all models. I have included a link to the installation instructions and a video showing a typical installation for you.

The U-bolts on a trailer suspension are designed to attach the leaf springs to the axle of the trailer. The U-bolts will need to fit the diameter of your axle. I would recommend to measure the diameter of the axle. A 6,000-lb axle should have a diameter of 3 inches. The spindle that is attached to the axle will measure 2-1/4 inches in diameter. There is not a U-bolt available in a width of 2-1/4 inches.

Your Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain tow bar # RM-522, with its 6000-lb capacity, will easily handle the weight of your 2004 VW New Beetle. Apart from the tow bar itself, flat towing also requires a set of base plates, a wiring/lighting kit and a supplementary braking system for the towed car. Also required are safety cables, and often a high/low hitch adapter to keep the tow bar level. Each of these items is reviewed in detail in the linked article on flat towing. This is a great place to... view full answer...
I checked with Thule and the Thule Passage 2 Bike Carrier # TH910XT that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Volkswagen Beetle and should work well to carry your bike with a horizontal top tube as long as you get a Thule Thule Bike Adapter Bar # TH982XT.
The # TH982XT attaches from the seat post to the steering stem to provide a horizontal attachment point for the bike to attach to. Check out the link to the review video I attached for this product.
