Video Transcript for How to Install: ClearPlus 17 Series Signature Windshield Wiper Blade on your 2022 Ford Maverick

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install these ClearPlus 17 Signature Series Wiper Blades on our 2022 Ford Maverick. Now, this is gonna be a beam-style wiper blade, and what that means is it's going to be one continuous curved beam. That curve is going to help it shape and adapt to the shape of your windshield, and opposed to the frame-style where you've got multiple points of contact, putting even pressure on the blade, this one's gonna be one solid piece. I went with this one for my own truck, because we get a lot of ice here in the winters in Missouri, so this solid piece is going to collect less ice and be better for the winter. Plus, in my own experience, I've just liked the beam-style a little bit better for my windshield, but it's all up to personal preference, really, a lot of people around the shop here prefer the frame-style, it's just down to what works best with your vehicle.

Even with no water on the windshield, they're operating smoothly, no weird squeaking or anything like that, and when we tested them earlier, they worked great without leaving streaks. You will need two separate ones, because they come individually, not kitted together, so you'll need a 22 inch for the driver's side, a 21 inch for the passenger's side, but luckily, these both install the exact same way, come with all the adapter pieces you need to attach to the arms, and we'll show you that process now. Now, the first thing you need to do when installing these on your Maverick is actually turn the windshield wipers on, because as they stand right now, you can't fully raise these arms up. So just flip those on real quick, and then you can flip them off, you'll see how they just dropped down a little bit, that's why we want them on, so I'm gonna do that, and just remove the key from the vehicle. Now, this is raised up enough for us to get some better access to it.

So you don't necessarily have to do this, but it's gonna ease things up quite a bit. And what I'm going to actually do is shift this towel underneath the arm there, so if anything comes back down once we remove the wiper blade, it's gonna protect my windshield. And to get the old wiper blade removed, there's this small push button, push that in, and slide the factory wiper out. Pretty simple. Our new wiper blade is going to come set up for a J-hook style attachment.

That's not what we're using today, so just flip that upside down, push straight down on it to pop it out of this bar, and remove that adapter piece. We're gonna be replacing this with one of our new adapters. Now, there's two that are gonna look very similar, both of them are these button-style, one of them is going to be a little bit longer than the other one, that's this guy, and it has a small tab on the end. Pinch that small tab and just pull it out, we won't need it, these other pieces we won't need either, we're just gonna be looking at this, which will have a small slot at the bottom. And after a little bit of trial, we actually found it's much easier to just slide the adapter piece in the arm separately, then take your windshield wiper, line it up, and just push it into place, and that process is going to be the exact same on the passenger's side.

It is important to also note that the passenger's side is gonna be your 21 inch blade, and the driver's side is gonna be your 22 inch blade. If you're not too sure of which one is which since they are so similar in size, you can always hold it up to your existing factory blade, see that the length matches, and go from there. With the new wiper blades installed, let's give them a test, and they're working great. Everything's operating as it should, and when I turn the wipers on and back off, you can see them drop back down, everything's operating as it should.
