Pair the built-in tongue weight scale on this hitch with the easy-to-use instructional app, and get the perfect towing setup. We love how Weigh Safe makes it easy to get totally balanced, but we love the smooth ride this hitch offers even more.

Note: Some Bulldog-style sleeve-lock couplers may not work with this system because of the limited space between the hitch ball and the lead screw in the system head. There is approximately 2-1/2" between the screw and the center of the hitch ball.
The most important thing you can do to ensure a safe, smooth ride when towing is making sure that your tongue weight is evenly distributed. If the balance is off, well, you've probably been there before, bouncing all over the road and getting pulled in every different direction. Simply put, when your load isn't properly distributed, your steering goes kaput.
Getting things just right can be a huge pain. First of all, depending on your trailer (and everything loaded into your truck), you may not even be able to adequately redistribute your weight on your own. You might just plain need a weight distribution system to help.
Standard weight distribution systems can be a bear. You need to manually tweak and adjust every little thing, and even then, there might be so much play in the setup that you'll still have issues with handling. The go-to for picking up that slack is typically adding sway control, but that can lead to other issues, like not being able to back up or tow in the rain.
The True Tow is designed to make solving these problems as simple as possible. No more fiddling around with hard-to-adjust parts. No more guesswork when setting things up. No more terrible sway on the highway. Just follow the setup process to get a perfectly balanced system and hit the road.
The setup steps are easy:
1. Hook your trailer up to the ball on the system head.
2. Take note of the weight on the built-in scale to make sure your tongue weight is in that sweet spot (10% to 15% of your GTW).
3. Pop into the companion app on your phone and answer a few questions, then wait for the app to give you an exact "distributed tongue weight."
4. Hook up the spring arms so the system is fully in place.
5. Adjust the lead screw on the hitch head until the scale shows the "distributed tongue weight" that the app had you shoot for.
Once you've completed all the steps, just make sure all your connections are secure and head out on your journey!

Hello friends and neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Weigh Safe true tow weight distribution hitch for a 2 1/2 inch shank and a six inch drop or seven inch rise rated at 18,500 pounds gross towing capacity. Now folks with weight distribution, you're gonna get a smooth, even and safe ride while you're towing and it's gonna make balancing your load super easy with this built in scale so you don't have to worry about poor handling while you're driving. Now these systems can also correct sway from passing semis and harsh cross-winds with their built in tension and friction points. So you've got tension up here on the head unit and friction and tension back here at the back as well. Now with this particular unit, you'll be able to check the built-in scale to gauge your trailer's tongue weight, which is gonna speed up this process substantially.
So if it's outside of the sweet spot of about 10 to 15% of your total gross trailer weight, you would simply adjust your load up or down. And then also you can adjust the head up or down by simply using this lift tool that has a built-in wrench in on it to bring this head bolt in or out. Now what that's gonna do is that's gonna change the angle of this whole head assembly here and that's gonna change the tongue weight because it's changing where the pressure is pushing down the angle, et cetera. So if this looks like it's not striping down, that's normal, that's the way it's supposed to be. Now this ball is a stainless steel, 2 5/16 inch ball.
It's rust-proof and built to last. Now when you're setting this up, like I said, you got the scale here. You can see a QR code kinda on top of here. You can scan that, get their instructions for assembly. You can also get their app and what you'll do with their app is you're gonna determine your perfect distributed tongue weight for your setup.
So in that app you'll be able to set up weight and measurements and then get a nice range to aim at, meaning let's say it told you from the app, I don't know, 300 pounds tongue weight, you'd be able to see the scale automatically and know if you need to adjust your load or simply move this screw in or out to adjust the tilt to get that correct angle and weight. They also give you a nice hitch lock included, it's all stainless steel as well, hardened steel. You get a nice dust cap weather cap here on it and you get a set of tubular keys for locking and unlocking that. So the tubular keys I like because compared to the flat ones, those are easier to pick. These round ones are really hard for anyone to kind of pick are break into.
Now the whole thing here is made of a hefty high strength steel and it's been powder coated in black as you can see, and that's gonna keep everything rust and corrosion-resistant as well. This whole kit is V5 and J684 certified for safety. Now folks, a couple things to go over from the brackets to the center of the ball or vice versa, rather. When you measure down the side of your trailer frame, these brackets need to be between 27 to 32 inches back from the center of the coupler. And it's even on the sticker on these brackets that tell you that as well. So what these are gonna do is these are gonna clamp around your trailer frame. Let me see if I can pop one off here real quick and give you a side angle. So that's gonna be like that. Again, it can do six inches tall. Now if you need a taller one, we have up to eight inch tall that's sold separately on that bracket kit. And then I'll just slide this back in here for now. Keep in mind this is all set up just kind of loosely for demonstration purposes. So obviously these will be on the trailer frame and everything will be tightened down, et cetera. Well, folks, I think that we'll wrap it up. Thanks for joining me while we took a look at our Weight Safe true tow weight distribution. Again, the 2 1/2 inch shank with a six inch drop. I'm Steven, thanks for watching. And as always, please stay safe while you're towing.
Good
