Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side interior trim panel in your rear cargo area.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plug on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Today on our 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee well be installing the Tow Ready T1 vehicle wiring harness, part number 118369. To begin our install well first open up the rear hatch. Then well remove the spare tire cover. Now it may not be necessary to completely remove the spare tire, but youre definitely going to want to shift it out of the way to gain access to two of the four rear threshold fasteners. Now were ready to remove the threshold fasteners. Once we remove these four screw fasteners well sit the fasteners and threshold aside.
After we remove the threshold well then go ahead and remove the two tow hooks on the drivers side interior quarter panel. On the drivers side well need to remove or peel back the interior quarter paneling to gain access to the manufactures tow port. Using a flat bladed screw driver or an interior trim panel tool well release the fasteners underneath and pull back on the paneling. Note in some applications it can be easier to remove the upper post panel also. With that out of the way well pull back on the quarter panel and expose the green wire connector behind this black plastic flap.
Now well take our new Tow Ready wiring harness with matching green wire connector, noting that it does have a connector lock. Well match up the green connectors, connect them and lock them in place. Well start routing our wiring harness back toward the rear of the vehicle. As we get towards the corner well need to mount the converter box. To mount the converter box well use a two-way adhesive already adhered to the back of the converter box and peel back the other side of the adhesive, and then mount it to a clean, flat surface, preferably sheet metal.
Just below the manufacturers wiring harness would be a good location. Now with the converter box mounted well go ahead and take a couple of black zip ties provided with our install kit and secure our new Tow Ready harness to the manufacturers wiring. Well cut off the excess from the zip ties to clean up our install look, and were now ready to install our interior trim paneling. Now with everything back in place well go ahead and show you the operation of our new four pole flat trailer connector. Well take the connector, run it out the rear hatch and over the threshold.
Keep in mind that the threshold weather stripping is thick enough that it wont harm the wire and we can simply close the rear hatch on it. Then well pull out whats necessary to run it down to our hitch or accessory. Once were finished well simply roll it up and store it in the spare tire well. Now we know how to use our new four pole connector, lets go ahead and test it. To test it well use a test light and put the ground clamp on the white wire terminal. Next terminal over will be our brown wire terminal for our running lights circuit, then the yellow wire terminal for the left turn signal, left braking and green wire terminal for the right turn signal, right braking. Now that we know our new four pole harness works were ready to hit the road.That does it for the install of our Tow Ready T1 vehicle wiring harness with four pole flat connector, part number 118369 on our 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. .
