Your trailer needs a 4-way, but your vehicle runs separate turn and brake signals. You wire it up anyway and the lights don't work. This converter fixes it. It handles the signal translation, so your trailer lights work every time.
This tail light converter lets you tow a trailer with a 4-way flat plug even if your vehicle uses separate turn and brake light circuits. It combines the signals internally and sends them through a single plug. The color-coded wires simplify installation, and the 12" lead gives you room to make clean connections. Great for small trailers or utility setups.

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our TowSmart taillight converter. With a four-way flat trailer connection, this is gonna be the vehicle side of the installation. So folks, a signal converter does just what you think it would do. It converts or merges separate turn and brake signals for a four flat trailer wiring.
So you have the four flat, four pole whenever it's all said and done. You have a nice, yellow dust cover, a nice length of wires, and then this is the actual converter itself, and they are molded in here, right turn brake, left turn, tail marker ground. Then over here, you have ground tail marker left turn, right turn. So again, it's combined two of those signals and put 'em into one. So mainly a three-wire vehicle system to a two-wire trailer system is what that's technically called.
And it's a 12-inch lead as far as the wires and everything on the pigtail length itself, but then overall, you have a lot more length of wire. It's a plastic, sealed converter box. And again, everything is color-coded and you just have cut, blunt ends. They're not stripped back or anything. You have a nice ground wire here and everything.
So again, it's ready to go outta the box. It's gonna protect your converter from moisture and grime being in that heavy duty plastic. Folks, that is gonna wrap it up for our quick look together.
