Hauling a trailer or loading heavy gear can make the rear sag and the front lift, throwing off steering and braking. The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System adds up to 10,000 lbs of extra support above the rear axle to keep things level. The hollow rubber springs step in when weight increases, helping you stay steady, maintain traction, and drive with confidence under load.

When the road gets rough or uneven, these hollow rubber springs take the edge off bumps and jolts. They act like shock absorbers, soaking up road impact before it hits your suspension. That means a smoother, more stable ride whether you’re loaded down or running light—and it helps extend the life of your factory suspension by reducing bottoming out on rough roads.

Each spring works on its own to handle weight shifts from side to side. When you swerve, turn sharply, or carry an off-center load, they keep your rig balanced and help cut down on body roll. That stability also improves trailer control—less sway means fewer corrections and a calmer ride when the wind picks up or a semi passes by.

No air lines, compressors, or adjustments to fuss with here. The system bolts right onto the frame rails using vehicle-specific brackets and hardware—no drilling required. Once installed, it automatically engages when weight is added, then backs off when unloaded so your normal ride comfort stays intact. It’s straightforward gear that works when you need it most.

Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System. This is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1973 to 1998 Oshkosh M-Line motorhomes. Fits the 1990 to 1995 Oshkosh V-line motorhomes, and the 1990 to 1998 Oshkosh X-Line motorhomes. Now on a custom fit part like this, I always recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle and it will show if this will work for your application. Now this kit will improve your suspension, your handling, and the safety. Provides additional support as needed, so you always have a nice smooth, comfortable ride.Basically allows the leaf spring ample movement, while cushioning light loads, that does not affect the empty ride of the vehicle.
It will become more rigid. As more weight is added.Increases the stability, providing great performance while hauling heavy loads and will even reduce vehicle sag. These do work independently side to side. Help compensate for any off-center loads and it helps reduce body roll when you're swerving or turning corners. This will also act as shock absorbers. Taking the brunt of bumps and rough roads.
Helps extend the life of your vehicle suspension. Now it does include these two, AEON hollow rubber Springs, the vehicle specific brackets and the hardware for installation.Nice set of detailed instructions. Now this does replace the axle bump stops on the frame. So there's no drilling required. Few specs on this.
The capacity for this is 10,000 pounds. Now these Timbren Springs will not increase your vehicles, weight carrying capacities. One thing you do want to make sure, is not to exceed the manufacturer's recommended weight limit. And these products are designed to work with a suspension system that is in good working order. That should do it for the review on the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System.
Ratings & Reviews
Feels like it was a real help on the suspension but need about a year to get the full opinion on different roads.
Accolade XT 35L - Timbren SES (TFRSDE - 12k support) loaded in the sweet spot.
These Timbrens should be used on F600 and F550 models. Do NOT use the spacers that come in the box. Just install the Timbrens without the spacers and you are good to go. When FULLY loaded (full gas/water and gear), the Timbrens should compress about 1/2”, which seems to be the sweet spot. The end results are as follows:
1. Better bump absorption and much better rebound. The inside chatter is more of a low sounding rumble and the suspension rebound is really quick.
2. Much better sway control and overall stability.
3. The drive feels more balanced front to rear. The rear drop was reduced by 1”. I think that allows the leaf springs and shocks to work in a more neutral position.
These are worth every penny and are a cheap “set it and forget it”way to improve your ride quality!
Great upgrade when pulling our 6500lb travel trailer. Helps with sag and control on the road on our Ram 1500. Change the stock shocks and if you choose, upgrade your stock springs, and you'll get the most out of your half ton.
Helps prevent about 1/2" of sag with my 175lb-tongue weight trailer and easy to install.
1.5" gap... it came with 1 spacer for each side. if i buy the spacer kit, what size are they ? i have a 2026 f350.
Added these to my F250 Super Duty. I carry a golf cart on a Diamond back bed cover. Can be a little top heavy. Perfect addition to my suspension- greatly reduced the sway.
Easy to install using basic hand tools, and stopped the "sag" when I hook up my Casita travel trailer
Great product. The ride and body roll at the rear axle are notceably improved (1989 Ford E350 Class C RV , 27 ft). I give it 4 stars because the installation was slightly complicated due to the rear brake lines needing to be slightly bent to provide clearance for the U bolts supplied in the kit. Great product and wish it came in a 5000 lb version.
2,000 miles in on a trip from the east coast to the Canadian Rockies these work great while loaded and towing. Close to zero bounce while towing, I love them. Unloaded, however, the ride in my 2026 Tundra has gone south. There is a noticeable, abrupt stop of the units hitting the axle when going over any kind of bump. When I get home and back to regular driving, I may just take them off, its that bad.
I've had these on our tow rig for a year now and I added buy them again today if I needed them.these have worked much better than airbags for our coil spring rear suspension to handle the tongue weight of our trailer. The SUV sits level when the trailer is on and it handles bumps and sway better than the airbags did providing much more comfort to us in the vehicle. Unloaded, we don't really notice they are there, unless, we have all the kids and some friends loaded up and you will fell them work when going over bumps.i do all my maintenance on the vehicle's and inspect these regularly and I cant see any wear so far even though we've gone on 6 trips with our trailer with about 5000 miles doing so.
I cant say these are the best for every truck or SUV, but for ours it is the best and I definitely would recommend to others.
Well they are exactly what I thought it would be. Hard for me to say it's what I needed yet.
I installed them on a homemade trailer from a salvaged 2001 base model tacoma. Once I get finished building it out and have some weight in it I'll have a better idea. But from what I've seen so far on a couple test drives they should come into effect when needed.
For reference I building an Tacoma based trailer with an ARE Contractor topper with a Naturnest roof top tent on the very top. So to counter and sway these should be very helpful. At least I hope so. I'm not an engineer but I did stay at an Holliday Inn once.
The Timbren SES is a simple solution for rear squat when towing. When hitched to my 30' Airstream Globetrotter (8800 GVWR) with a tongue weight around 1200 lbs, my Silverado 2500HD had a bit more squat than is ideal. I shopped airbags but didn't want to spend ~$2K for the set up and didn't want the hassle of installation and forever chasing air leaks. The Timbren SES literally installs on the Silverado in about 15 minutes. So simple. No bags, no compressor, no wiring, no air lines, no leaks. And WAY less expensive to boot. Just returned form a 600+ mile trip and it towed flawlessly.
A very simple and straightforward installation once you get the oem bumper stops off (had a shop do that)
Timbren worked with me as I had a non OEM frame height (vehicle was lower than stock) to recommend the proper kit. Highly recommend contacting timbren if you are unsure of the proper kit to use. Ride is more stable. It does feel stiffer and less bouncy but am looking forward to seeing how it performs with my truck camper. Truck is a 1998 dodge ram 2500. Brake line over left side of axle needed to be secured to prevent damage.
The Timbren overload spring/bumper was east to install and did what it was supposed to do when I hitched up a camp trailer. These did not negatively affect the ride by any means and I don't have to worry about the troubles with air bags.
Stiffens and corrects kneel in rear end of 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500. You will notice a stiffening of the rear end suspension while unloaded, but it’s a fair trade off to prevent sagging and porpoising while towing. I found it easier to pull the rear wheels and work from the side than underneath the vehicle while installing.
The timbres bump stop is exactly the right height to meet the axel when the trailer is connected with all its weight onto the hitch. I have an Andersen weight distribution hitch and it levels out perfectly. The day picture is with the coach (Winn 2100bh) with factory equipment. The night picture is after the timbres are in place. Looks good.
It has been almost a year since I installed Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems (DVF350 and DVR350R) on the front and rear of my 2003 Dodge RAM Van 3500. These bumpers replaced the OEM bump stops that were on my van. I like the Timbren bumpers much better than the OEM bump stops because they provide a progressively cushioned response for suspension compression when traveling over significant humps like speed bumps in a parking lot, or curb ramps into driveways. I did not like the abrupt stop the OEM bump stops provided when traveling over the same objects. I installed the Timbren rear bumpers first, and after a few months of use, I decided to add them to the front. In both cases, the front and rear Timbren bumpers were easy to install once the OEM bump stops were removed. Installation required reuse of the factory hardware. On my van, the Timbren bumpers are not always engaged. Under normal load and travel conditions the bumpers are relaxed and about 1/2” away from the suspension landing points. However, their presence is much appreciated and very noticeable when the van is carrying heavy loads or handling significant humps.
Absolutely Pleased with the TIMBRENS. They were easy to install, and took less than an hour to install both. I noticed a slight stiffness in the ride as the rear bounced over a bad roadway. Towing is great, with a nice level and smooth ride. I am glad that I did not order the heavier duty Timbrens, than what was recomended for my truck. I believe the ride would have been too stiff. If you look at the photos showing the timbrens, the truck is still lifted in the rear, so what you see is a big gap between the rubber, and the steal plate. When the truck is lowered, there's 1" of space as it should be. BTW, I have been purchasing from etrailer for years now, and I have to say that I have never had any issues with any orders. They are my go to folks for all of my vehicle suppension stuff and trailer stuff. You can't go wrong with buying from them.
Just got these on and haven’t been able to do a lot of testing yet, but it looks like they command their price. Huge difference in sag in the rear end of our Honda Pilot. As others have appeared to do in this review section before me, I started using a WDH with these and that looks to really be the winning combination with the Timbren SES. Our travel trailer is 3,500 lbs and it was squatting the pilot pretty well before. This timbren SES is a great addition. Can’t go wrong.
My F53 was like driving a waterbed down the road. With the Timbrens, it’s a different vehicle. Should have installed them years ago. Etrailer is my go to for anything trailer. FAST shipping and prompt responses to questions or concerns.
2022 F250 Super Duty. Super easy to install. I have about 3/4" gap between the spring and the plate. Time will tell how they impact the ride quality and how much sag they mitigate with my 5th wheel hooked up.
Timbren Spring Helpers were exactly what I needed on my Tundra plus a spacer kit since I have a 3” TRD lift. They were packaged neatly, with proper hardware, and excellent instructions! They absolutely do exactly what they are supposed to do! Truck rides much better and helps level out the load!
I'm suitably impressed with the difference i feel.
I have about 250 lbs. of static load with my topper and Decked cargo system. This put my install gap with no spacers just under the reccomended 1 inch minimum. Then add a couple hundred more pounds hauling music gear 100 shows a year, and the stop is resting on the axle.
I feel the absorption of the Timbren material is better than the flimsy stock bump stops. More cushion.
Where i really feel the difference is in the stabilty of excessive side sway when turning while loaded.
I have a gig coming up that will involve some unpaved mountain roads to get there so I think i will have a real goid idea of how these Timbren's will perform.
Instalation took me about an hour at 11 p.m.
The product it of the highest quality in design and build.
And Etrailer is a company that I would not hesitate to buy from in the future.
Thanks Dee Dee.
You rawk!!
It seems to fix old sagging springs
I got these Timbrens for our 1994 35ft RV and they took the sway out of the ride and made controlling it much better. If your are considering buying these Timbrens ..DO IT.. YOU WONT BE SORRY.
