When towing or hauling, sag in the rear suspension can throw off steering and braking. These SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs add up to 5,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your vehicle level and composed. They act as a buffer for your factory suspension, bearing the weight of heavy cargo so the front tires maintain traction and steering stays predictable whether you’re hauling tools, campers, or a trailer.
A lot of load-assist systems feel harsh when the truck is empty. The Rebel’s 2-piece design separates when unloaded, allowing full suspension movement so the ride stays smooth and comfortable on rough terrain. Each spring connects at the top and bottom, then comes together only under load for support. This way you get stability when towing and a soft ride when you’re not.
Lighter loads compress the springs easily for soft engagement; heavier loads compress them by as much as 80 percent for firm support. This progressive load control keeps your vehicle level across a wide range of cargo weights. The springs also absorb bumps and shocks, which helps minimize sway and bounce when towing or carrying uneven loads.
Each SumoSpring works independently to support its side of the vehicle. This helps compensate for off-center loads and reduces body roll during sharp turns. Whether you’re cornering with gear in the bed or pulling a trailer on a winding road, the truck feels stable and planted instead of rocking side to side.
These closed-cell urethane springs are tough enough for all-season hauling. They work from -25 F to 200 F and resist damage from oil, salt, and UV rays. Because they expand and compress vertically with minimal lateral movement, they won’t rub or get damaged in tight spaces. There’s no tubing or air pressure to manage—just a maintenance-free, bolt-on setup that quietly does its job every mile.

Hey Steve. Thanks for the feedback. This Rebel kit is designed for vehicles carrying variable heavy loads, so some contact at unloaded ride height can be normal depending on the application. If this is a dually, keep in mind this particular kit is intended for commercial applications only, where earlier engagement helps support the heavier loads these trucks regularly carry. I’d still verify the brackets and spacers match the instructions, but the Sumos contacting before the factory overloads does not automatically indicate a problem with this setup.

The springs work great. After a year in service, they are like new. We use this truck as a rental equipment delivery truck. We pull a 26ft gooseneck tilt deck trailer that is 16K rated. The ride is great and the springs handle the load nicely with no sag when loaded. We have added these springs to all 6 of our 1-ton delivery trucks.

These will not fix an already sagging suspension. These are designed to help support suspension but leaf springs need to be replaced they will not fix that much sag. I would recommend using some airbags, like part # F2703, in place of Sumo Springs. You will need a compressor, like part # F2097 for the airbags.
