When you’ve got a trailer hitched or the bed piled high, rear-end sag can throw off steering and braking. This RoadActive Suspension kit adds 2,000 lbs of load support by converting your factory leaf springs into a mechanically active suspension system. The variable-rated coil tension springs instantly adjust to the weight, keeping your ride level and your traction steady whether you’re towing or hauling.

Most helper springs only kick in after the truck starts sagging. RAS works differently—it actively strengthens your leaf springs the moment you add weight, then disengages when unloaded so your ride stays comfortable. There’s no need for air pressure adjustments or constant monitoring once it’s installed. It just works when you need it, and stays out of the way when you don’t.
Heavy loads can twist stock leaf springs enough to cause axle wrap and wheel hop—making acceleration jerky and hard on parts. The RAS system stabilizes your leaf pack to stop that twisting before it starts. You’ll feel firmer traction under throttle and smoother braking without the shudder that comes from losing grip on the road.

Long corners, quick lane changes, or gusty crosswinds can make a loaded truck feel unsettled. This setup reinforces your rear suspension to cut down on body roll and sway, keeping both truck and trailer more planted through turns. The result is steadier handling and less rocking even when the load shifts or a semi blasts past on the highway.
Each unit is built from high-grade alloy steel with an epoxy e-coated finish and corrosion-resistant brackets rated for more than 800 hours of salt spray. It bolts onto your existing leaf springs using factory U-bolts—no drilling, welding, or cutting required. Once installed, there’s nothing to maintain or adjust; it’s a fully assembled system built to last through tough hauling and daily use.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Roadmaster Active Suspension custom leaf spring enhancement kit for the rear axle. Now, this is a custom-fit part. It is designed to fit the 1966 to 1996 Ford Bronco and the 1984 to 1994 Bronco II. And on a custom-fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for application.
Now, this custom kit will convert your vehicle's factory leaf springs into a mechanically active suspension system. Basically, this will actively strengthen your leaf springs for improved ride quality with or without a load. It is a nice all-in-one suspension system, which will improve stability, handling and control. Eliminates axle wrap, wheel hop, and even bottoming out. It'll reduce dangerous sway and body roll while you're cornering.
And it'll even help keep your ride level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load. Even improves traction while braking or accelerating. Does use a variable-rated coil tension spring, which automatically adjust to your vehicle's load. And they activate immediately to support the extra weight. And they'll disengage when it's unloaded, allowing your leaf springs to perform as intended.
The customize coil springs can be adjusted during installation to accommodate your towing or hauling needs. And they are independently adjustable for side to side leveling of any off-center loads. These do help extend the life of your leaf springs, your shock absorbers, shackles, and even your tires. They do have a nice, durable epoxy e-coated steel construction. They are corrosion resistant brackets on the ends of each unit.
Have a nice salt spray rating of more than 800 hours. And these are an easy bolt-on installation. There's no drilling, cutting or welding required. Basically, the rear of the leaf spring clamp bracket right here will attach to the top of the factory leaf spring. And then this axle bracket secures on top of the leaf spring and onto the factory U-bolt plate. When you do receive it, they'll come all fully assembled just like this. All the hardware is included. It is maintenance-free. The adjustments and monitoring aren't needed once they're installed. So, once you install these, you do all your adjusting and monitoring. And then from then on, it's maintenance-free. You don't have to worry about it. These parts are made in the USA. Few specs on this, the weight capacity is 2,000 pounds. Now, these Roadmaster Active Suspension will not increase your vehicle's weight carrying capacity. But that should do it for the review on the Roadmaster Active Suspension custom leaf spring enhancement kit for your rear axle..

Well It has not failed me yet. Being basically a spring under load all the time I am assuming the spring will stretch some over time and I will have to adjust tension accordingly. The pickup sits nicely on the thinner washer setting so I am leaving it there and hopefully that will help the system last longer.

Looks great, Les :) I hear lots of good this about this option for suspension enhancement and how you said, even without towing it can improve the ride quality. Glad to know that you are happy with them, too! do you have any upcoming camping trips planned?

What can I say. After a year of constantly driving through Texas roads and highways. I have moved twice and loaded the bed of my truck plus U-Haul 6x12 trailer and thy truck has not felt the load of it. The Active Road Suspension Leaf Spring is constantly sort of speak sensing if theres load so it can actively push it upwards. I have even driven up to the crazy roads of Pennsylvania and my pick drives smoother than when I got it from the dealer. Im telling you these things work. As any cautious driver upkeeping his own vehicle, I have periodically checked the bolts and location of the resistance in between the spring and it has not deflected or moved from its original installation. I believe every pick up must have these. It beats constantly putting air on the air bags especially in inclement weather like up here in Pennsylvania with the snow. I couldnt be more satisfied with this purchase. Thank you etrailer for offering this superb product.

After a year I am still pleased with this product. I had been adjusting the spring tension higher when towing and then back down after a trailering trip, but now just leave it adjusted to the trailer towing tension as the unloaded ride doesnt seem to suffer when the springs are tighter.

OMG!! I have done extensive traveling with my trailer over the last year and the RAS system has made a huge difference in sway, road buffeting and squat. I can’t imagine not having this on any vehicle that tows!
