Notes:
Start your engine easier and warm your cab faster in cold weather with this frost-plug-style engine block heater. Heating your engine coolant keeps it from thickening and freezing, resulting in more reliable start-ups and smoother operation altogether. It also lessens the workload and extends the life of your vehicle's battery. And because starting your engine when it's warm creates less condensation in the engine block than starting it when it's cold, your engine will get better initial fuel vaporization, which causes fewer emissions and less pollution.
This frost-plug heater and surrounding plate is designed to custom fit your vehicle, and installs in the engine block. The power cord on the heater is removable so that you won't need to buy a whole new heater if the cord gets damaged. The cord can be routed through your grille for easy access to a 120-volt outlet or extension cord. If needed, a longer or shorter cord (sold separately) can be purchased for your application. Make sure the heating element is fully submerged in the coolant before plugging it in.

Ellen: Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Kats Heaters custom diesel engine block heater. This is going to be a frost plug, so we can make sure that our engine fluids don't get thickened up in the wintertime and those cold months. So we're going to keep everything lubricated nicely.A lot of times whenever the temperature drops, those liquids inside our engines, our engine fluid can tend to thicken up and then just doesn't want to lubricate through our engine like it should. It gets too viscous to really move, so by having a frost plug or a heater block, we're going to be able to heat up all those fluids and get everything rolling before we actually turn on our engine and get down the road.
This eliminates the need to keep your engine running up in the northern states where a lot of times guys will just keep their car running the whole time, never turn it off, because it just can never . You can never turn it off or else it'll stop running. This is going to help you to alleviate those problems. It does preheat that engine, and then it's also going to reduce that condensation in your engine block, thereby allowing you to emit less pollution and fewer gas emissions as well.It comes with this plate. This is going to replace the water inspection plate on the right side of your engine, so this is going to be a custom fit for the Cummins Big Cam number two and four, or Big Cam three and four.
You will need to reuse the hardware that comes off of your inspection plate on your engine to get this in place. The power cord for this is removable, so if we loosen up this little nut here, and pop this cord off, and then take it out so you don't have to have that cord hanging off the front of your truck all the time. You can just pop it out there and replace it when you need it to go in there. The power cord just routes up through your grill and then goes to an AC wall outlet, so it does need 120 volts to power that element there. You want to make sure that whenever you're installing this that this doesn't touch the walls anywhere. If it does, you can slightly bend it out of the way so that it's not coming into contact with any surfaces. You want it to be suspended in that fluid. It is constructed of a corrosion resistant brant, excuse me, a corrosion resistant brass, and again, custom fit for your Cummins Big Cam.
It is CSA approved, made in the USA. The amperage for this is going to be 12.5 amps, and again it does work with 120 volt AC power. It has a one year limited warranty.A couple notes that I want to make with this is that you don't want to use this in a heater with a 100% antifreeze solution, and you also don't want to start your engine with the heater plugged in. So before you go to start it up, make sure that you unplug this guy.As far as the cord length, it's about 68 inches long, which is about five feet, six inch .. or excuse me, five feet, eight inches.
So should give you enough room to get to your wall, or at least to an extension cord. But that's going to do it for our look at the Kats Heaters custom engine . custom diesel engine block heater.
good service and price
just what we needed... arrived earlier than expected... excellent service - HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Very good product at a good price
Still working as it should. Takes about 2 hours to warm engine enough to start at 10 degrees.
Great product. Installed in my Vermeer chipper with an older model Perkins diesel. Works perfectly. Engine starts with ease in NH winters. Way less expensive than local auto parts stores.
Fast shipping, competitive pricing and a very feputable company. Part was exactly as ordered.
I have used this type of Freeze Plug Heater on different pieces of equipment. With the cold weather is Wisconsin the engine is kept luke warm when this heater is pluged in.
This product was offered at a fair price. Ounce we get the AC unit out of the way it should b a simple to install.
A little slow delivery, good prices, very good products so far. Electrical portion of my order needs more time for durability.
Great price and fast delivery on the Kats block heater I purchased.
Thanks, etrailer folks !
Item is here already and is exactly what we needed for an odd application. We accidentally found the exact unit we needed, delighted to see the vehicle listing in the shipped materials.
Didn’t use it due to lack of instructions. Contacted e-trailer and they quickly put me in contact with the manufacturer.
The answer that the manufacturer had was that the heater may or may not work. The only way to find out would be to start removing freeze plugs and checking.
Kat’s customer service made no offer of instructions or anything else.
Great product was delivered quickly and on time. When I contacted customer care about verifying my address everyone was polite and professional and very helpful.
I bought this as a supposed upgrade for the stock 750w heater in my 12v Cummins. This heater failed almost immediately, I think I used it twice before realizing it wasn't working anymore. etrailer was helpful and offered to exchange it under warranty, but I did some research and found a lot of negative reviews of this style of Kat's heaters.
I decided I would be better off washing my hands of this heater altogether, and ultimately ended up installing two 750w Cummins heaters in my engine to satisfy my desire to upgrade.
