UWS Slim Line Series offers full-size features for smaller truck beds by using the limited space in front of the wheel well. The toolbox sits along the truck bed 4" above the rails, fitting snugly behind the cab. The insulated, beveled, single lid opens to a full 90 degrees with the help of two super-duty lift cylinders, which raise the lid and hold it open as you load and unload your gear. Today in our 1999 Ford Ranger well be test fitting the UWS Truck Bed Tool Box, narrow cross-over style, slim-line series, at three point two cubic feet. This is part number UWS00278. This box is also available in black, part number UWS00331. This tool box measures sixty inches long by twelve inches wide, and nine and a quarter inches deep. It sits four inches above the bed rails, and has a foam filled lid, and paddle lift handles. The aluminum construction guarantees not to rust.
The heavy duty stainless steel latches on both sides with a lock on the drivers side, secures your boxs contents. The lid also has a piano hinge that runs the full length, and when opening it uses heavy duty gas cylinders on each side to help lift the lid and hold it open a full ninety degrees. Youll notice it has a dust barrier to help protect the contents from the elements. The box contains a tray for tools. It also has holes on either side to help store your screwdrivers.
Now included with your UWS truck box is two foam strips. You can attach these strips to the tool box which will prevent the tool box from coming in contact with the truck bed surface. This will ensure your truck beds painted surface is protected. Now because were test fitting this box and will not be installing it, were not going to attach the foam strips. Instead well lay a few towels down to protect the surface of the vehicle.
The box comes with two J-bolts, and the hardware needed to secure your box to the bed. All youll need to do is drill a hole in the box where you want your J-bolt to mount. Typically, youll use the stake pockets, in the bed of the truck. The box also includes two keys. And these tool boxes are made in the U.S.A., and carry a one year warranty.

I’m a forester and it holds everything I need everyday. Small and compact and works like a charm. Keeps plenty of room available in a 5 foot bed.
It definitely fits the truck better. The only thing I don't like are the hydraulics - they are WAAAY too stiff - it takes a herculean effort to close the lid.
This Slim Line Series - 6.3 cu ft works very good with the side boxes on both sides of the truck. Have access to open from standing on the side of the pickup truck with the side boxes installed. Makes a nice combination for a pickup truck Installed on a 2022 F-150 6'5" bed.
Seems like a great product. Heavier sheet metal than others I looked at. Lid and latches seem solid.

This tool box was a little tricky to install. I had a professional mechanic help me. It is now properly installed and looks great on my truck. I was so happy to discover that a slimline toolbox was indeed available. My crew cab Tacoma only as has a five-foot bed. A larger tool box would have left me with only about 3.5 feet of bed. This slimline box allowed me to retain four feet of bed, which fits my needs. Very fine box. Good workmanship. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to others who need a slimline design.
