Video Transcript for Putco Bar Style Bumper Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500
Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Putco bar-style bumper insert in stainless steel, part number P86195. Now, here's what it looks like once we have it installed, as you can see it's got a nice mirror finish. Now, it's made out of a heavy gauge stainless steel that's going to prevent rust and corrosion. It's going to provide you a nice OEM look, and with this grille in place, it's going to help keep large pieces of debris from flying into your coolers or your radiator of your vehicle, which can save you lots of money down the road if something was to come in contact with your cooler or your radiator. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install it. Now, to begin with, we're going to have to remove this plastic fascia on top here, there's 12 pushpins that hold it in. You can take a flat bladed screwdriver or a panel tool and you're just going to pry up in the center and pull them out.
Now that we have all of our clips out, we can lift up our cover, and we're going to set this to the side. Now we're going to remove the 4, 10 millimeter bolts across the top of our grill. Now that we have our screws out of the top, we're going to just grip the grille, and we're going to pull firmly outward and it's going to release the clips. This may take a little bit of time, just kind of be careful with it. Pull it back and set it aside. Now that we have our grille out of the box, its got a protective coating on it and we're just going to peel that off, just kind of have to work it all the way around.
Now, you want to be careful with this because it is a little sharp on the edges and it can cut you. Now we're on the bottom side of the opening in our bumper, and there's going to be a 10 millimeter bolt on the outside, and there'll be one on the outside edge of the other side as well. We're going to take out those 2, 10 millimeter bolts, and we're going to set these screws aside for reassembly once we put our grille into place. Now you can see we're going to have 2 tabs on the bottom and 2 tabs on the outside, and the screws we just removed from the bottom of our bumper opening are going to go through these 2 tabs here. If your vehicle is equipped, as some are, with the bolts on the top side, you would remove them as well. Now, our vehicle does not have them, so our kit does come with some nuts that are going to clip over the edge of the bumper, and a 1/4 inch bolt, and a lock washer.
You can see on our nut, it's going to clip over the side of our bumper bracket there, it has this end that protrudes out. You want to make sure that is pointing towards the front of the vehicle because we're going to put the bolt in from the backside. You want to just line it up over that hole, we'll do the same thing on the other side as well. Now we can take our grille, we're going to gently slide it down behind, lining it up with our holes. We'll take our 1/4 inch bolt and lock washer that came with our kit, we're going to put it into the clip that we installed on the backside of our bumper. We're just going to start these hand tight until we get them all started, then we can reinstall the ones that came out of the bottom side as well.
Now you might have to push a little pressure one way or the other to get this bolt into place, and we'll repeat this for the other side. Now we can tighten up our 2, 10 millimeter bolts on the bottom side. Now we can tighten up the 2 bolts that came with our kit, and those are going to be 7/16, and we'll just run those down as well. Now we're going to reinstall our grille. On the backside of our grille you can see after we removed it, that its got these metal clips that are going to snap in to the fascia of our vehicle. They are slotted so we can adjust it to the center and make sure our grille is nice and centered on our truck. Once we get our grille down into place, we'll get it lined up, that'll snap into position and we can replace our 4, 10 millimeter screws along the top. We'll be ready to put our filler panel back into place, press it into place, snap it down. That's going to do it for our look at and install of the Putco bar-style bumper insert in stainless steel, part number P86195, on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500.

Quality of product and fitment spot on. Be patient when peeling off protective coating. This was an easy project, thanks to your (etrailer) video instructions!! Again, be patient when reattaching the factory lowers bolts, it is tight in those areas.

I ordered this 3 yrs ago for my 2019 chevy 2500hd looks great after 3 yrs I just orders another one because I hit a deer and I t hit bumper and it also pushed in putco grill guard but I believed it saved the oil cooler from being damaged. It was about 1/2 inch away after Collison. I also bought it for preventing rocks or road debri from coming through and hitting the cooler. I highly recommend the putco guard. Looks good too.

Very nice looking piece for the front of the truck. I just wish the throat of the mounting brackets had been deeper so it wouldn't try to keep twisting off as you're tightening the grille to the bumper.

Installed on 2016 Silverado 2500 HD. After reviewing the online instructions it was clear I should be able to do this. No one likes to take apart brand new product to install something that should of come from the factory anyway. So hats off to Putco for filling this void. Mailing and packaging was perfect. Fit up on the truck was perfect. Really, the only way this could've been easier is if they sent someone along to install it. There was 2 extra small 7mm bolts at the top outside wings of the grill at the top out side of the 4 top bolts, not shown in the instructions. See ratchet in photos. Perhaps the factory added these on later to the 2016. Added bug screen over radiator and oil cooler at this point.

Fits good. If mounting tabs were stronger and it didn't rest on the plastic slightly I would give it a excellent review. Will see how it holds up over time. It does have limited lifetime warranty on the product itself not the paint. Hope I do not have to use it. Can stop worrying about a big rock smashing into the Cooler now that I have this grill installed

Was a little more flimsy than I thought, for the price. On my 2015 Chev 2500 Duramax, I didn't have to use the clips included. There were already 2 bolts in that space. I do like the looks. This should stop the larger stones from taking out the cooler and/or radiator.

Purchased the Putco bar style stainless steel oil cooler grill for my 2015 GMC 3500 SLT dually as we are planning to take the rig to Alaska and don't want to have a semi thrown rock ruin our trip. The installation was simple and took all of 15 minutes. After installing I noticed how vulerable the air conditioning condenser is behind the stock GM grill so I may have need of another product from Etrailer where I have always enjoyed competitive pricing, knowledgeable, quick, and friendly service .

Does an excellent job in protecting the transmission cooler which is exposed in the bumper opening. A little bit time consuming to install, but instructions are easy to understand and it is well worth the effort.

Arrived as scheduled. Has a nice black mat finish. Installation was added by the on-line video. Was a bit concerned about pulling off the grill (thought I would break it), but no problem with a little extra pull. Didn't take long at all. Makes my 2019 2500 HD look better and will protect that transmission cooler. Only issue is the gap on each side is not equal. Could be the existing plastic inserts on the bumper.
