Features to know about

Bright, Energy-Efficient Illumination: 27-Diode LED Power

When you need strong reverse lighting without pulling heavy current, this unit delivers. The 4-5/16" round Optronics backup light uses 27 white LEDs that draw only 0.382 amps at 12.8V. The LEDs last up to 50 times longer than incandescent bulbs and put out a crisp, bright white light through the Crystal Clear™ lens. With no filaments to break and no bulbs to swap, it’s a dependable upgrade that stays bright and efficient every time you back up.

Built for Wet Conditions: Sonically Sealed and Submersible

Water and electronics don’t mix—but this light is built to keep them apart. The housing and lens are sonically sealed into a single piece, creating a waterproof, submersible unit that keeps water out even when the trailer goes under. That sealed design protects the circuit board and diodes from corrosion or moisture damage, so it keeps shining reliably through rain, washdowns, or launch ramps.

Clean, Recessed Setup: Flush Mount for a Finished Look

If you like lights that look factory-installed instead of bolted on, this one mounts cleanly into the trailer body. Just cut a 4-5/16" hole, add the compatible grommet (A45GB – sold separately), and push the light in for a snug fit. The recessed mount means nothing sticks out to catch on gear or debris, and it gives your trailer a smooth, finished appearance while keeping the light protected from knocks.

Simple Connection: Industry-Standard PL-2 Plug

Wiring doesn’t need to be complicated. This light uses an industry-standard PL-2 connection and accepts a 2-prong plug (A45CB – sold separately). The plug connects for power and ground while sealing off the unused terminal against dirt and moisture. It’s straightforward, secure, and easy to tie into your existing trailer wiring without special tools or adapters.

DOT-Certified Backup Function: Legal and Reliable

When installed as a pair in a two-lamp system, this light meets DOT requirements for backup lighting in any 360-degree position. That means you’re not just improving visibility—you’re staying compliant with safety standards while getting reliable performance backed by a lifetime LED warranty.

  • Replacement Backup Light for Peterson 426E on Motorhome
The Peterson 426E is a grommet mount lamp which is 4 inches in diameter. We don't offer that particular lamp, but it cross referenced to several lamps offered by Optronics. • Installation of Extra Reverse Lights on 2006 Ford F-250
The amp draw is 4.5 amps per light or 9 amps for 2 lights on the Optronics 55-Watt Halogen, Multi-Directional, Area Utility Light # QH16CTS. With that much amperage draw I would not recommend to connect them to your factory wiring harness. It could cause overloading problems and damage your vehicles wiring harness. If you want to install the 55-watt lights on your 2006 Ford F-250 you will need to use the Draw-Tite Wiring Kit # 118151. This kit will allow you to run a separate 12 gauge...

  • Comparing Lumen Output Optronics Round LED Reverse Lights
The Optronics DOT LED Backup Light # BUL23CB don't have a lumen rating from the manufacturer. Based strictly on conversions it will be somewhere between 300 and 400 lumens based on the voltage and amperage. When using the same conversions the GloLight LED Backup Light # BUL101CB will be brighter at right around 500 lumens. The ONE LED Backup Light # BUL003CB will be the least bright at somewhere around 300 lumens. I've attached videos that compare the light in a dark room to assist...

  • Can I use a Halogen Spotlight as a Reverse Light to See Better Behind my Horse Trailer
These will certainly provide enough light. My concern would be that they provide too much light and would considered rear-facing headlights. There are DOT restrictions about how bright rear-ward facing lights can be so as drivers behind you are not blinded. The Custer Halogen Light you were looking at does not comply with this regulation. I would suggest instead, using brighter reverse lights. We have several backup LED lights that will be brighter than standard incandescent lights, but...

  • How to Mount Optronics LED Backup Light # BUL23CB on a Trailer
The Optronics backup light # BUL23CB, is a flush mount light. You would drill a hole 4-5/16 inches in diameter in the surface you wanted to mount the light to. You would then wire in the pig tail harness, # A49PB, to the trailer wiring. Then mount the light in the grommet, # A45GB, attach the wiring to the light and push it into the hole.

  • What Is The Amperage Draw On The Optronics 55-Watt Halogen Utility Light # QH16CTS
The amp draw is 4.5 amps per light on the Optronics 55-Watt Halogen, Multi-Directional, Area Utility Light # QH16CTS. If used on your 2004 Chevy Silverado you will need to use the Draw-Tite Wiring Kit # 118151. This kit will allow you to run a separate 12 gauge wire with a 10 amp in-line fuse to the positive side of the vehicles battery. This will keep the lights from drawing power on your factory wiring harness which could cause problems. You will also want to be careful when installing...
