Video Transcript for Bulldog Pipe Mount Swivel Sidewind Jack Review

What's going on, everybody Out, in here with etrailer, today, we're going to be taking a look at the Bulldog Trailer jack. So this Jack is going to be a pipe mount and it does come with the pipe. So if you are just adding on to your trailer to begin with, you will need a welder and it is important to weld the right side. So this one has a little bit more of a gap. We want that to be towards the trailer, or if you are just replacing the one that you have just makes sure that the diameter of the pipe that sticks out from your trailer, is going to have an outer diameter of 2 inches. So with this one, we're going to have about 2000 pound capacity and that's just your lift capacity, but it is going to have 3000 pounds max capacity when it's sitting there static.

So for this little tiny trailer, we're really not going to go over that. It's about a couple 100 pounds on the tongue, so it's not going to be a whole lot right here. Even if we have a couple of generators and stuff, and we are going to get about 10 inches of total lift. So that's pretty much good for me. I have about a couple inches out, but even if I do switch vehicles and my ball mount gets a little bit higher, it's going to be able to get everything lifted up so I can hook up or unhook from my truck.

This Jack has a side wind. And what that means is the little handle it's going to be on the side. So a couple of the reasons why you would want this. Sometimes they have the wind at the top. And if you do have some other things on the front of your trailer mounted like a generator or just, you always have it full of cargo.

A lot of times when you have a top nut, you gotta be hitting all of that. But with the side Mount, we don't have to worry about that at all. So that's kinda why we went with this one. And this one is going to be a little bit of a step up from the entry level Jack. I say that just because it is going to have this little grease ZERK on the outside.

So this will eventually last longer if you maintain it. So you can just put grease in there after maybe a year of use, a couple of months of use, or if you just want to do it almost every single time you go on a trip, just use that to be able to maintain those inside gears. The entry-level jacks do get the job done, but you don't have the option to grease it. So they're typically not going to last as long. The lever from the top right here, all the way to the very, very bottom of our little handle, it's going to be about 7 inches and this little plastic handle is going to pivot. So one, it's not going to be cold in your hands, too. It does pivot around. So it's going to be pretty easy. And when I was doing this, it's actually fairly easy to put it down and bring it up. Some of them are a little bit harder than others, just depending on where you really put it on your trailer, just because that tongue weight further you move it that way , the heavier it's going to be. But this is definitely a little bit easier than the one that we took off of here. We are going to have a powder coated finish on the outer tube, and that's just going to help it resist against rust and corrosion. And we do have a coating on the bottom inner tube. So we don't really need a powder coat for it to resist the construction corrosion. And a lot of times you guys want to know like how big this foot is. It's not huge, but it's about the standard size that we see. It's about 7 and a 1/2 inches long. And about 3 and 3/4 inches wide. I have seen some a little bit bigger than that. And there are also some that are just absolutely massive. With these, sometimes they start to bend and stuff, but I don't really think that this is going to be an issue because when metal is bent like this it's extra strong. So it's not just a flat plate. So if you do, maybe just have some uneven terrain or something starts to move around. We're not going to bend this up. And I liked that just because we can't really replace this as it's completely welded to it. And we aren't going to be able to put any type of wheel on the end of our Jack. Now let's go ahead and lower it down. I can show you how it pivots. So this is about where I usually have it when I'm hooking up to my trailer. So these are a little bit louder, than your bolt on jacks or some of your other type of weld-on jacks, just because there is a little bit of play, but you see that with any type of pipe mounted trailer jack. So that's not specific just to this one. That's just kinda what you get if you're going with that pipe jack, but it is pretty easy whenever there's not a load on there. So it's a little bit quicker to do something like this. Isn't the most time effective jack, but when it comes to the height mounts, this is basically all you get. So now that that happens, it does have a coated little pin and it is connected. So you don't have to worry about losing it. I lose things all the time and I see this little chain. I'm a happy man. So we can go ahead and rotate this around either way, but the position of where we install this is going to be very important, obviously, right there, not going to be able to do that, but even with a cargo carrier on there, pivot it, put that in and it's ready to go. You will see a little bit of play, but again, that's kind of what you get when you go with the pipe mount. So in our retracted position, I'm going to measure from the very center of our pipe here, this, this little hole, all the way to the very, very bottom of that plate. And what we're getting is a bout 11 inches. So we're supposed to have 10 inches of travel. So let's check it out, make sure it's good. One thing to think about too, you know, this is basically the ride height of my vehicle, and I'm going to have to do a lot. It's a lot of turning. So if you have something like that, having a little bit bigger jack is gonna make you do a little bit less work than long run. So you don't have to sit here and do this all the time, or at least as much as you will with a larger Jack. So, when it comes to size, it's all just depends on what trailer you have, of course, but also how much work you're really wanting to do. Then the fully extended position, that same exact measurement that we did before from the bottom of the plate, it's going to be about 21 inches. So 10 inches of travel that is confirmed, and that's a pretty decent amount. Sum it all up, the Bulldog Trailer Jack is going to be a good fit for maybe the smaller type of trailers, mainly your smaller vehicles. So I say that just because with this, I had to crank on it a lot to get the footplate down. And then once I started cranking up and I maxed it out. I only got about 2 inches from the ride height of my vehicle. So I think it has a lot to do with the vehicle that you're putting it on. So if it was me, I have a Tahoe, which is just basically like a pickup truck, not lifted or anything, but it's a little bit too much work for me. So I would most likely go with a larger jack just because, I mean, that's a lot less cranking I'm going to have to do to get that foot plate down. And this is completely maxed out and this is completely up. So if you're wanting something for a lower riding vehicle that you're towing your trailer with the bulldogs are going to be a great option, but as you start, maybe getting up to just the standard ride height of a normal base pickup truck, I think a larger tube will be a little bit easier on you. And it'll take a lot less time to jack up your trailer and get it hooked up and unhooked. So all in all, there's definitely a place for this, but it just depends on your vehicle. And that just about does it for our look at the Bulldog Winch Trailer Jack..

Perfect fit for my application.

I can't exactly speak for the product itself, as I ordered it for another person who is using it as an equipment jack. However, etrailer.com provided excellent service throughout the order process. Finding and purchasing was simple, their staff kept on top of tracking, and when the order was delayed they offered comparable alternatives with quicker availability.

The trailer jack and service was great. Unfortunately the trailer was burnt in the Oregon Almeda fire and everything had to be salvaged.
