Specs:
The EcoHitch Invisi trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight. The hitch cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind the body of your Chevrolet Volt. No welding is required. The receiver portion of the hitch will sit just behind the factory knockout panel in your bumper. Just pop the panel off to tow and put it back on again for a from-the-factory look when you're done using the hitch.
With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.
This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Invisi trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

This completely hidden, custom-fit hitch installs behind your vehicle's factory knockout panel. Aluminum and steel alloy construction is durable and eco-friendly. Powder coat finish resists rust.I ordered this for my 2011 Volt. Once I received all of my parts, it installed really well.
My license plate bracket was missing. they found it after I contacted customer support and they shipped it out that evening.
So all in all 2 weeks to get the order to me. (life is what it is people)
The hardest step for me was removing the bumper cover around the tail lamps.
(I admit to breaking a horizontal tab on each side of the cover, while removing it)
Technical note, my 2011 does not have the extra harness faster that must be removed.
I watched the etrailer installation video and that was helpful on a few points.
My car has the backup camera. This means that I had additional wire harnesses coming down the center behind my license plate mount.
I addressed this by using zip tie straps to re-align the harnesses and drilling a couple of holes into the impact bar on the bumper cover to attach to.
See my picture for my routing details.
I also installed safety cables similar as to what is shown in the e trailer installation video.
I ordered the 10 inch version and they successfully come up over the top from behind the hitch bar so that if they ever get used in an emergency, my rear cover will avoid as much damage as possible.
I found that drilling the pilot holes for the receiver access area was best done off the car to avoid any unseen wire harnesses.
I am happy with the end result and it looks good.
the stock license plate lights barely light up my rear plate, so I am off to engineer a different solution for my car's plate. What is included works sufficiently for a plug and play option as long as you do not have a back up camera. My back up camera is what remains in the way...
I plan to use this to haul my 4x8 folding trailer while taking kiddos to and from college.
This setup cost less than one round trip worth of fuel for my 09 suburban, with travel to the university.
Win - win for me
I have been very pleased with my purchases. There has never been any lacking of quality. I installed the hidden hitch for my 2013 Volt last spring. It was the easiest hitch to install, only hard part was the removal of the back cowling on the car. Some care is needed removing that piece because it will tear on the mounting holes if you move too fast.i pull a small trailer with the Volt 4x8 size and have had it in constant use since the beginning of summer. Price was a little rich, but then how many custers are there with this car?
This hitch receiver works just as advertised. The tutorial video provides good instructions and the written instructions suppliment the video well. I'd advise looking at both to be thorough. A few things to note, when removing the rear bumper fascia, be careful of the top most side clips as mine broke easily. Also, the license plate flips down fairly well when you have a ball hitch installed but it does obstruct the backup camera so maybe consider relocating the license plate if you launch boats a lot and wanna use the backup camera. The install was really easy for two guys to DIY with typical tools + the large hole saw. The Volt tows my 13' fishing boat like a champ so far.
CONFIRMED FIT FOR 2015. After being told that it wouldn’t fit, I bought it anyway and it bolted up no problem. My volt is fully loaded with all the parking sensors and stuff and it all still works fine. I would suggest drilling all 3 holes at 4” in the bumper so you’ll have an easier time getting the pin in hole. No idea why they tell you to drill smaller holes on the sides. License plate bracket didn’t fit great but that’s easily fixed. Overall it’s a great design and I’m happy I spent the extra cash on the hidden hitch.

One year later and still going strong. I’ve towed and hauled all sorts of stuff behind this car and although the mileage is awful mid 20s with two bikes the hitch works amazing and I love that you don’t see it when you’re not using it. The looks you get launching a boat with a volt are priceless.
I've purchased 3 or 4 hitches from Etrailer, always great quality and easy installs.
Fast and easy! Thanks
This is a great item It fit perfectly works great
Awesome product, does more then I was expected for it to do!

it has been a year and no issues. I replaced the included License Plate kit with a 12 inch Stainless Steal Piano hinge and a cheap plastic License plate mounting bracket. this setup clears the Backup Camera and looks very much like it was OEM. I used some T-Nuts with the prongs to attach the Hinge to the Bumper cover. drilled a hole first and T-Nut went in from behind the cover to cinch it to the plastic. anyway no complaints from me and it has been a great success. Cheers!!
