EcoHitch Trailer Receiver for a 2012 Chevrolet Volt
Question:
Hi I am from canada and I am looking for the frame bolting hitch. The 11221 is not an option because only the right part is bolted on the frame. The left part is bolted on the trunk ,and I dont want that. My friends 11221 tear while hauling is trailer. The left attachment is too weak. I was thinking about the option of taking a hitch having the same width than the chevy Volt 2012 like the chevrolet cruze 2012. Has an expert could you validate if the difference between the two only stands on the hight of the bumper.

I recommend the EcoHitch Trailer Hitch Receiver item # 306-X7186 for your 2012 Chevy Volt. After going through the instructions I can verify that it does not attach to your trunk and only attaches to the frame of your car inside the bumper beam. I have linked an installation video. This receiver has 2k lbs capacity trailer weight and a 300 lbs maximum tongue weight.
The EcoHitch receiver is made specifically for the 2012 Chevrolet Volt, it does not fit on the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. There are only 2 receivers available for the Cruze and both attach to different points on the frame than the Volt ones do.
