Video Transcript for Feature Review Paneloc Staple

Today, we're going to be taking a look at a panel lock staple. This staple would work in conjunction with a hasp and a lock. Both items are sold separately. You can find them here at etrailer.com if you're interested. This unit's made from a very strong and durable stainless steel construction. Stainless steel is also highly resistant to rust and corrosion, as well.

The unit's going to contain a total of four mounting holes. To take a measurement real quick, it is a square design when it comes to the base so that's going to measure an 1-1/2" by an 1-1/2". The overall height from very bottom to very top is 7/8" tall. The staple diameter or the diameter of this area right here is 3/16". The opening, measuring this direction, when I took a measurement of that I got about a 1/2" to 9/16". Then from the plate to the inside edge of the staple measured 5/8" so 9/16" wide by 5/8" tall is the opening size.

These mounting holes will accommodate number 8 screws. Mounting hardware's not included. The diameter of each one of those holes is a 1/4". That's going to do it for today's look at the panel lock staple.

  • Solution for Locking Cabinet on 2024 Interstate Airstream 24GL
Hi Steve; we don't have any kind of push button latch lock you could replace the existing latch with and I'm really not sure if anyone out there does. To find one you would also need to have some dimensions like the door thickness and size of the hole. What you might want to do is reach out to Airstream and find out who makes that latch. You could see if they also have a locking version. If you can't find one I have two possible solutions. The first is to cut an extra whole and add a cam...

  • Can't Remove Broken Key fro Thule Cargo Box. What Now?
Thule unfortunately doesn't offer the cylinder or sleeve the lock core sits in as a replacement part. If the cylinder hasn't been damaged, there's a chance a locksmith could carefully drill the lock core out, because if that cylinder is damaged, there's not much that can be done other than using a couple of padlocks, hasps # H135-203E and # H115-204E staples to secure the box. It isn't a pretty solution, but it's less expensive than a new Thule cargo box.
