Video Transcript for The Low-Down on the Bauer Products Door Lock for Horse and Utility Trailers

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the Bauer Products matte black door lock for your horse and utility trailers. Now, this is a nice locking latch that'll let you secure the door on your horse or utility trailer. This will let you upgrade the original latch that's on that horse or utility trailer to this durable locking latch. It is designed to fit a standard cutout measurement of 2 3/4 inches by 3 3/4 inches.

It is a nice die-cast zinc construction. Has a nice, rust-resistant, matte black powder coat finish on it. And it does include everything shown here, the door lock with the two keys, the door edge plate with the hardware to install it. Does come with, also, the door striker plate but there's no hardware included, and the main reason is because they don't know what you will be attaching this to, what type of material. So, they want you to supply the hardware to attach the door striker plate.

But basically, you could see from the outside, if you grab this paddle, gives you a nice grip there, you can open the door just like that. And from the inside, it has the same way. If you pull this paddle, it'll open the latch. Now, right down here on the inside, you'll notice that when it's lined up like that, the door is open. When you turn it away, if you notice, then the deadbolt comes out.

You turn it back to line the dots up, then it's unlocked. From the outside, you would need a key to activate the deadbolt and that's why they give you these two keys here. So basically, you would put the key in there. And once you get the key in there, you can notice that you would just turn this and you see your deadbolt will come out. Turn it the other way to open it, turn it this way to activate it.

Take your key out. Few dimensions on this, on the outside here, the width is about 3 11/16 inches wide. Height is 4 1/2 inches tall. We did mention the required cutout dimension this will fit in is the standard 2 3/4 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches tall. And it is designed to fit doors that are 1 1/4 inch to 1 1/2 inch thick. Again, from the inside, you open it like that. Does also come with the four screws here. I've already installed them just to put it together. But basically, the four screws, once you take those out, this will come apart. You'll be able to install it into your door and then use the hardware to attach it together.
