When a brake assembly is worn out, rebuilding individual brake parts can turn into extra time under the trailer. This left-hand assembly gives your compatible heavy-duty trailer axle a complete brake assembly replacement, keeping the repair focused on swapping the assembly instead of chasing separate internal components.
Manual brake adjustments are one of those trailer jobs most owners would rather not repeat. This self-adjusting design maintains proper brake adjustment as components wear, which keeps your braking performance more consistent and eliminates the need to crawl back under the trailer for manual brake adjustments.
Brake fit matters before the old assembly comes off. This assembly is for the left hand, or driver's side, and matches 12-1/4" diameter x 5" wide brakes with a 7 bolt mounting flange pattern on 12,000 lbs to 16,000 lbs axles. Mounting bolts and hardware are not included, so your install plan needs to account for those before the trailer is apart.
If you're replacing both brake assemblies at the same time, you don't have to hunt for each side separately. We offer a kit with both the right-hand and left-hand assemblies (LC56MP), which keeps the paired brake setup easier to order.

Hi, everyone, Steve here with etrailer. Let's take a look at this Lippert electric trailer brake assembly. Folks, this is a self-adjusting 12 1/4-inch wide left-hand assembly for 12,000 to 16,000-pound axles. As you know, trailer brakes, they're going to provide the braking performance that you need. And in this case, this is for a heavy-duty trailer axle. As you can see, this is a five-inch wide shoe or assembly pad and then, of course, it is 12 1/4 inches wide overall on the front.
You do get the dust plate back here on the back that I'm holding in place with my hand and, of course, you get all the wiring here to get wired up through the backside obviously for the electric brakes. And this is what we call a seven-bolt flange. So it's kind of hard to see the last bolts around here, but there are seven, one up here underneath the brake magnet. And, again, self-adjusting, you got the cable here that runs around and that's going to do the self-adjusting as you're driving. It's going to maintain proper brake adjustment as those components wear down evenly.
And proper adjustment, as you know, leads to better brake efficiency, less wear on your tow vehicle's braking system and suspension even because it's braking smoother and not causing a lot of jostling around. Perfect fit for my Lippert 7k axles. The passenger side was worse than the driver's side. Wires were cut on both on passenger side. One of the passenger side completely fell apart when I removed the drum wit one lone spring still hanging on. While the driver's side only needed shoes, I decided to order new for that side also. That gave me self adjusting housings all around. Very pleased!!
