Hi everyone, I'm Evangeline right here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be talking about recovery boards, specifically the off-road recovery boards from Tire Table. Now, this is gonna be a great reason for why you may need recovery boards. When you're stuck in a snowy situation and you find yourself just spinning around, you're gonna need some extra help. So here in this video we'll talk about some features of the recovery board, what type of options you have, how you carry 'em, things like that. So if you find yourself in a snowy situation, hopefully this video will help you out.
Recovery boards, also called traction boards are there to help you get some traction. So the main benefits really are gonna be, it's gonna be faster just to put these on, rather than having to wait for someone to winch you out. It's gonna be more reliable than a plank of wood, which I have used to try to get some more traction. And with these, since they're designed to be carried around for adventures, it's also gonna be easier to store inside of your vehicle so that they're there when you need them. You get two of these recovery boards, and the reason for that is because you wanna place them on each wheel that has power to it.
So in our case here, we have a rear wheel truck. So the way I would do this is I would just wedge this underneath each of the rear wheels. You can see they're kind of at an angle, and honestly, I would put the truck in reverse so that it pulls on the board and brings the board underneath the wheel. Same concept for forward wheel or all wheel drive vehicles where the power is towards the front. Go ahead and wedge that underneath your front wheels.
While the top portion has those little nubs to give traction for your tires, on the back of the recovery board, you have these X shapes and those are there to grip into the ground, but also because of the shape of your board I also recommend using this as like an emergency shovel. In our case here, to get our board properly wedged underneath the wheel, I am gonna have to pick up some of that snow and just get that out of there. So you can see how helpful this could be for just clearing out that debris or that snow from your tires. As for transportation, these arrive in a bag so that it's easy to just keep this inside your vehicle. The bag has a nice handle to it to make it easy to carry around.
But if you did want to mount this outside of your vehicle, you do have holes inside the recovery board. A mount that I would recommend is a SeaSucker universal recovery board mount, that one vacuum cups to the side or top of your vehicle, and will work with these boards. No matter what type of situation you're in, the point of a recovery board is to give you traction no matter what direction it needs to be in. So here I would be able to just drive over the board and keep going on the way out of the snowy area. If I was just stuck in the rut but let's say now I'm good since I'm out of the rut, I can just grab the boards and toss them into the truck or into the vehicle. Maybe you see a rut up ahead that you know is gonna be a problem. You can use this as a bridge to get across. Since this is made of high impact polypropylene plastic, this can handle up to 10 tons of weight, which is gonna be a lot. It's not just gonna be for your trucks. It can also be used for your Jeeps, for your Broncos, even for your off-road trailers. So hopefully you get the general idea of how these are used. From this point onwards, it's all about how do you need to use them for either the situation you're in now or the situation you wanna be in. The bag unzips on each side to make it easier to grab the board, but without the board, you can actually continue unzipping it all the way and then it becomes a flat square or rectangle. So the material underneath is gonna be kind of a tarp material, and that's gonna make it great for if you need to lay this out onto the snow, maybe you need to lean on it when you're installing tire chains, things like that. I know this type of material is very handy for that. So just a little extra purpose for that bag. Final things are these boards are available in three different colors. You have your red, you have your orange, and you also have your black. They all work the same way, just different options for you. Some other things I've learned while using recovery boards is I also like using them just as a little stability spot for me as I walk and wander through the snow. This just bites into the snow also giving traction for you. There are handles along the board just to make it a little bit easier to carry around. But other than that, they're pretty much your basic recovery boards. Good for most situations, whether you have a normal vehicle, an off-road vehicle or a trailer. We have other recovery boards that serve niche purposes. Sometimes you have your smaller boards for those situations where you don't have much storage space. Other boards stack up on each other or connect to give you even more traction. This is just gonna be a basic recovery board. Pretty normal specs all around, but very helpful. If you're just looking for something that is gonna get you through, you don't need anything extra special and you want something at a pretty good price, well, this was a look at the off-road recovery boards from Tire Table. You saw them right here at etrailer. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call or send us a chat or a review here on our website. I'd love to see what types of situations you get yourself into and out of with some good traction boards. My name is Evangeline and I hope you enjoyed this journey.
