Video Transcript for Checking Out the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye, 10K

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Tow Ready Forged Receiver Hitch Towing Eyelet. The part number on it is TR63045. This eyelet is designed as a single piece construction, very heavy-duty forged alloy steel that they use. They're also going to coat this with a nice durable black powder coat finish. It's going to stand up to the test of time for us. As you can see it is a solid shank designed to fit the 2" x 2" receiver hitches. Let's get a couple of measurements on it for you. Our overall length is going to be about 11-1/4".

We'll measure now from the center of our hitch pin hole to the inside of our eyelet. It's going to be about 8-5/8". Then from the center of our hitch pin hole to the end of our eyelet, it's got about 9-3/4". This is designed to use a standard 5/8" pin. We can just slide that through and secure it on the other side with our clip.

The hitch pin and clip will be sold separately. You can pick that up on our website. The part number on it will be PC3. That will complete today's look at the Tow Ready Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eyelet at 10,000 weight capacity, part number TR63045. .

What kind of receiver is that on your Jeep? Ive been looking online to find something that will attach to a trailer with a tow eye, and all I can find is hooks. I want something that will keep it secure on the road.

That is called a pintle hitch. I have added a link to our pintle hitch department. They are available in individual pieces so you can pick the right pintle and right mount, or in a single unit that is not height adjustable.

I don’t think you could ask for a heftier, stronger tow eye. This thing is a monster, weighing in at 9.25 pounds, forged from solid steel (NO hollow sections). Your hitch receiver will probably fail long before you break this slider. I have yet to see a better or stronger tow eye that will fit in a standard 2X2” receiver. You will not be disappointed! If you need a comparable tow hook, take a look at its brother, #TR63044.

by:

Having a tow hook fail under load, usually a nylon strap or rope for recovery is a major concern for serious injury. If the hook fails then you essentially have a rubber band effect with a substantial piece of metal traveling at hundreds of miles per hour until it strikes something or someone. Several other units I ordered from another company, although rated at 10,000 pounds, seemed flimsy with it welded construction and light weight. These units, the forged tow eye and forged two hook, are solid with no welds or tubular construction. I was impressed, suspecting that the 10,000lb rating is probably a safe working load limit and not the ultimate load limit. Usually the safe working load limit is 10% of the ultimate load limit. These units should not fail and in a recovery or tow operation; you want the strap or rope to fail before the metal hook, tow eye or any metal part to fail. Highly recommended.

This is an awesome product!! For the price the quality was outstanding and felt better then some store ($60) models. Shipping was extremly fast (3days)
Got this for my trailer, and front hitch for off roading so I have something to run my recovery strap through cause its easier then to unwind my winch. Thanks again! Will use this website more coming summer.

by:

This is an extremely solid tow eye. I'm much more confident with this in my hitch than with the screw-in eyes that are provided by the manufacturer.

A couple notes though - the ring is too large for a 3/4" D shackle to fit over it - it might go with some "assistance" (hammer) but I've already scratched my ring when trying to get it to fit.

Also, just an FYI, the weight of this tow eye is 10lbs.

Everything was great I received the product and happy with what I have purchased. Everything went smooth. Great service very happy with this transaction.

by:

Great strong and reliable product. And did I mention the price? AMAZING!

Thanks E-trailer for yet another amazing product. And i also am giving E-trailer a 5 star rating. I trust them for my fleets needs. Great people, pricing, and shipping! HIGHLY recommended!!

by:

Great product working as it should. Holds up with no issues, purchased this item last year hoping it lasts for more years to come.

by:

I haven't had a chance to put this to work yet (hence, 4 stars instead of 5) but it arrived promptly, was reasonable priced and appears to be quite well made. Solid steel, this should last a lifetime. Thanks etrailer.

by:

etrailer is the best. They have the best website I have ever used. Better than prime. Product I have order are great. Love this website.

by:

Excellent service and whenever I need any thing for my trailers I will be going to etrailer!!!

by:

Most excellent product great finish, quieter than my former lunette eye,

by:

Great product! No need for additional tow hooks to snatch my Jeep out of the muck!
etrailer is a pleasure to do business with.

by:

This is a solid product. It is heavy and well made. The eye may be too thick for most smaller hooks to go over, but most will pass through the eye if you are using a tow strap. I purchased this in case I need to pull someone out of a ditch or give a tow...or in case I end up in the ditch and I need to be pulled out.

by:

I was pleased with the quick attention to my order. I had priced the "tow eye" with another company and was pleased to find that e-trailer had the same item at half the cost.

by:

This looks like it'll do the job... purchase and shipping was easy, package arrived as scheduled, and I even get to fill out a product review! How sweet is that?!?

Thanks, eTrailer...

Dan

  • Recommended Pintle Hook Tow Bar
I have a different option, but the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender # HR26 with the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 is not designed to be used to adapt your Blue Ox Ascent tow bar to a pintle hook, and as such I do not recommend doing so as it will would void your tow bar warranty, and not be very stable. The only option to use a tow bar with a pintle hook is using a dedicated tow bar designed that way like the Blue Ox Allure Tow Bar # BX7460P that you mentioned....

  • Is 10K Trailer Eyelet Hitch Weight Rated for Tongue Weight or Pull Weight
The Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye, part # TR63045, has a gross trailer weight capacity of 10,000 pounds. This represents the weight of the loaded trailer. With the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye you can pull a trailer that weighs 10,000 pounds. However you will want to consult your vehicle owner's manual to determine the capacity of your truck. If the truck is rated lower than 10,000 pounds you will want to abide by its weight capacity. Tongue weight is...

  • Hitch Mounted Tow Ring with At Least 4 Inches From Center of Hitch Pin Hole to Closest Point of Ring
The MaxxTow Tow Strap Loop # MT70029 measures 3 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the weld. For a longer option the TowReady Tow Eye # TR63045 measures 4-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the closest point of the ring.

  • Recommended Vehicle Recovery Strap And Receiver-Mounted Shackle
The ring on the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 is approximately 1" thick. The Bulldog Winch 3/4" Bow Shackle # BDW20020 has an opening of about 1-1/4". This will work, but it will be a tight fit. I recommend going with the Bulldog Winch Bow Shackle # BDW20117. This has an opening of 1-3/4" which will be plenty to fit the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045. You can then use tow strap such as Erickson Recovery Strap # EM59600. • Is the Tow Ready Tow Eye # 63045 Compatible with a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500?
The Tow Ready Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 is compatible with a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver on your 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. This part is rated at 10,000 lbs for its use independently and your truck will not handle the same capacity. I recommend checking your owners manual for your specific towing capacity as your truck can range between 4,400 and 7,000 lbs depending on the engine size, axle ratio, and transmission style.

  • 10k Tow Loop Needed With Minimal Play In The Receiver Tube
Hi Derrick, The Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 shank is 1-7/8" x 1-15/16" with rounded corners, which would explain the amount of play you've been experiencing. We have a few other options in this weight class that have 2" x 2" shanks to help reduce the play if you'd prefer to swap out the # TR63045: Curt Tow Strap Loop # C45832 MaxxTow Tow Strap Loop # MT70029 Superwinch Receiver Shackle Bracket # SW95GR Of the three I personally prefer the Curt Tow Strap Loop...

  • What is the Difference Between a Tow Eye and a Tow Hook
The Tow Eye, like # TR63045, and Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Hook, # TR63044 are both used a lot in vehicle recovery and winching operation applications but are not the safest option for other towing needs. The choice between using a tow hook or a tow eye will mostly depend on what exactly you need to recover the vehicle. If off-road and you get stuck, you could use a winch and pulley block and connect it to a tow eye so it cannot slip off. But if you were pulling a vehicle...

  • Can Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 be Used to Tow 1,600 lb Trailer
The Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 is designed for towing much heavier trailers than your 1,600 lb trailer so it would do a great job with yours that only weighs 1,600 lbs.

  • Tow Loop That can be Horizontal or Vertical when Mounted in 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
We have exactly what you are looking for with the Curt Tow Strap Loop for 2" Hitches # C45832 which can be mounted in your 2 inch hitch either horizontally or vertically and has an inside diameter of roughly 1-3/4 inches. This tow strap loop has a 13,000 lb capacity; to mount it you will need either Pin and Clip # PC3 or Curt Hitch Lock # C23519. I have added a link to a video review of the Curt Tow Strap Loop for you to check out as well.

  • Could Tow Ready Lunette Ring part # TR63045 be Mounted on Trailer
There's no reason you couldn't use the ring part # TR63045 mounted on a trailer instead of in a hitch. It would still have the same 10k trailer towing capacity if used like this.

The Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye, # TR63045, will accept a hitch pin that is 5/8 inch diameter and at least 2 inches long. The Pin and Clip, # PC3, that you have referenced will fit. I recommend a locking hitch pin, like the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock - Flush Design, # e98888, to deter theft. I have included a video review that features this lock below.
