This soft shackle is designed to be the weakest attachment point in your Maxtrax rigging setup. It lets you plan where a failure could occur so you can protect vehicles and prevent your recovery ropes from snapping. 15,432 lbs breaking strength.

Note: This Maxtrax soft shackle is designed to be used within the Maxtrax recovery system. It has not been tested with products from other brands.
Since the fuse shackle is designed to be the first point of failure in your Maxtrax rigging setup, you can arrange the safest recovery possible. For example, during a snatch recovery using kinetic ropes, you could connect this shackle to the bogged vehicle and place a rope dampener at that point. If the setup was overloaded, the fuse shackle would break first, protecting the recovery vehicle and the bogged vehicle.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this MAXTRAX 21-1/2 inch long synthetic fuse rope shackle. Has a 7,716 pound working load limit. Now, this rope shackle is designed to replace a steel shackle or a D-ring that's used in off-road recoveries. What's nice with this, you can wrap it around your roll bar, your axle, or other point of attachment, and it creates an anchor.
Basically, you just insert the knot here into the loop. And then when you pull it, it'll give you a attachment point. Also what's nice, this can be used with a MAXTRAX soft shackle two inch hitch mount, which we do sell separately on our website. That goes by a part number of MA36PR. And I happened to pull that part to show you what we're talking about.
And again, you can see this mount installs into a two inch by two inch hitch receiver, and it'll give you an attachment point here for this rope shackle. So basically what you can do is put that through the opening there. Again, open the opening, put your knot in there. And just like that, you can see, it'll give you a connection point. Has a low break strength, helps prevent damage to your recovery straps or recovery points.
And what's nice about it, they call it a fuse rope shackle because basically if too much force is applied, the shackle will fail before your recovery straps or your points break. But again, this part we do sell separately. As we showed you, it's pretty easy to use. You just wrap it around the anchor point, put the loop in over the knot end and pull it tight. The rope is a 3/8 inch diameter HMPE synthetic rope, which is stronger than steel, yet lightweight and safer to use.
There's no pins to fasten so it won't rust or corrode. And what's nice is even if this falls off into water, it'll float so you can still get it. It is a braided polyester protective cover, which helps reduce damage from the sharp edges. The dimension, again, 3/8 inch diameter. Length, 21-1/2 inches long. Now, the maximum load or break strength on this is 15,432 pounds. But what you need to worry about is the working load limit. That's the max you wanna use on this. It's usually a third of the break strength. So this has a working load limit of 7,716 pounds. But again, just to use it, open up your loop, put your knot in there. And then again, you can pull it to whatever length you need. But that's gonna do it for the review on this MAXTRAX 21-1/2 inch long synthetic fuse rope shackle with the 7,716 pound working load limit.
