Getting into your truck bed shouldn’t be a chore. The RetraxPRO MX moves on sealed ball-bearing rollers, so it glides open and closed without binding or needing grease. You just pop up the handle and slide it with one hand. The 1"-thick aluminum slats retract into a compact canister that sits at the bulkhead, keeping the cover out of the way and leaving your full bed open for larger loads.

When you want to protect what’s in your bed, you can lock this cover anywhere along the rails. That means you can close it partway to shield smaller gear while carrying taller cargo near the tailgate. The flush-mounted locking handle hides under a flat lid to keep dirt out and keep thieves guessing. Closed and latched with your tailgate locked, it forms a solid barrier that can’t be pried up or cut through like soft covers.

Rain, snow, and road grime stay outside where they belong. The RetraxPRO MX uses weather stripping and foam seals around the rails, plus an overlapping top panel at the tailgate, to block moisture and dust. Two drain tubes route any water that gets into the canister back out through factory bed drains. Reviewers describe it as “almost waterproof,” which is high praise for a retractable cover.

These 1" aluminum panels are tough enough for real work—rated for 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight or heavy snow without sagging. The matte black finish resists scratches and fading, keeping its streamlined look year after year. Even the canister is designed smartly with a spiral track system that prevents the panels from rubbing together when rolled up, cutting down on wear over time.

The rails sit just 1" above the bed for a low profile that blends in instead of standing out. Installation is simple—bolt-on clamps secure the rails with no drilling required, and the preassembled canister drops into place. Once mounted, the cover rolls flush across the bed for a sleek finish that also helps smooth airflow when closed.

After about a year owning this cover, I still would buy it again. If you set it up right in the first place, it will work flawlessly. The locking mechanism still works great. The rolling part still works great. Aside from a solid cover, this is the most secure cover I have ever had. It does get some drips of water inside after washing the truck but its not enough to worry about, even if you had a bed full of stuff.

So on the plus side, love how it opens all the way up. When were loading the bed for travel, I need it fully open. Downside is the amount of room the canister takes up and the water as previously mentioned. Still quite easy to use!

Install looks great Jesse! We couldn’t agree more about the instructions. Honestly, unclear instructions are exactly why we started making our own install videos many moons ago, because seeing it done can make all the difference. It’s good to hear the cover feels solid and slides smoothly once installed. Your notes on water sealing and debris are fair, especially with RamBox-equipped beds and tailgate fitment. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and we hope it continues to serve you well over time.
