If you’re tired of folding or rolling covers that block your rear window or take up bed space, the Full-Metal JackRabbit solves that. Its retractable aluminum panels open and close using a spring-loaded handle at the tailgate. Turn the key latch and the cover glides into a compact canister up front, leaving the entire bed open for hauling. The same handle lets you pull it closed again, locking every 12 inches so you can still cover part of your load while keeping tools or gear protected near the cab.

Rain, snow, and road grime don’t stand a chance against this setup. The heavy-gauge aluminum slats with silicone weather hinges form a tight seal between panels, while foam seals at the bulkhead and tailgate keep water from sneaking in. Any water that gets past the top drains through built-in tubes routed out of factory holes in the bed floor, keeping your cargo area dry even through storms or car washes.
Some covers stick up above the rails and ruin the truck’s lines. This one doesn’t. The side rails mount inside the bed rails for a flush look that blends in cleanly with the truck body. That low profile also helps with aerodynamics, cutting down on wind drag and giving a small bump to fuel efficiency when the cover is closed.

The Full-Metal JackRabbit is made from extruded aluminum with a matte black finish that resists corrosion and dents from daily use. It’s rigid enough to deter thieves compared to soft covers and can handle years of exposure to sun and weather without sagging or fading. With its angled canister design, you keep full rear window visibility and room for fifth-wheel towing setups beneath it.

You don’t have to drill into your truck to install it. The canister sets into place at the front of the bed, and the rails clamp on using two clamps per side. Built-in kickstands at the rear clamps help level everything out so you get a tight seal right away. Once tightened down, the rails line up smoothly, ready for the cover to slide in and lock securely in place.

Hey Brad, loved the first part of your review but don't like the second part! That really shouldn't be happening. Stay tuned and we'll reach out to you to potentially set up a warranty claim. Thanks for the feedback.

It’s been 2 years and it still works like day one. It is built real well! The only maintenance i do is I keep the track clean with a dry lube.

Overall I believe its a great product, after almost a year if use my only complaint comes on the lubrication of the unit which they say happens when you are using it. So where I live especially in the winter it could be days, weeks when you don’t open the cover for obvious reasons. This does make the cover a little sticky when summer comes although I found that leaving the cover in the rolled position for a bit did help the smoothness of the retraction? I also lubed the side rails with WD but thats my only concern otherwise its a great product seals very well minimal water gets in the bed even in heavy rains.

Just as strong, durable and a stable finish as the day I first got it. Functionally perfect.
