Colin: Hi everyone. I'm Colin here at etrailer. Today we're going to take a look at the Bulldog Winch Portable Air Compressor. It's going to be a convenient way for you to carry around a compressor, especially if you're ever in a situation where you might need to inflate something. You're going to be able to do that up to 100 psi. So it will be good for your standard vehicle tires, your bike tires or even your sports equipment, if you have a need for that. It's going to come with inaudible 00:00:20 carrying bag.
It's going to make for easy storage. Due to its compact size, we can really store it anywhere that's convenient. We've got our sedan right here. We can go ahead and just sit it in the trunk, it's hardly taking up any space. So we're not going to have to unload it when we want to use our trunk for other things.
So it's really going to be there when we need it.The compressor has a 15 foot power cord and a four foot hose. So you're going to be able to reach all four tires of your vehicle, in the case that they need some air. It's going to hook up to the 12 volt outlet in our vehicle, so we're going to have power no matter where we are. The air hose is going to thread onto our valve stem of our tire. Once you get the threads on, just tighten it down as far as you can get it and then you'll have an airtight seal.As long as your hose is hooked up, no matter if the air compressor is turned on or off, we're going to have a constant reading of our psi.
So when you're threading in, the dial will go up and if you're running air out, the dial will go down. Now if your tire needs a little bit of air, just turn on the switch and it will inflate it. Once you have it to your desired psi, just go ahead and turn it off, unhook your hose and repeat this process for any other tire that needs air. It's also going for work your bike tires, in case you need to give your tires a little bit of air before going out on your ride. Your compressor is going to come with a few extra valve attachments, including a needle, so you can air up your sports equipment. Each attachment is going to thread into the hose, just like the valve stem did. What I do like about this compressor, when compared to others, is we're going to have these four vibration isolators to help reduce walking.
But on the bottom side right here, you can see all four of them. When we turn our compressor on, it's not going to walk at all. That's going to complete our look at the Bulldog Winch Portable Air Compressor.
Ratings & Reviews
The Bulldog Winch Portable Air Compressor does the job but build quality is marginal. I probably wouldn't buy it again. Part of the problem was my fault for not thinking it through. The alligator clamps are a pain because, on my Class A, the batteries are under the steps. This makes it a hassle to connect the pump.
It works well for my application it is a good air compressor I use it in Utv in a get a flat
It's scary to be on the road and have a tire pressure monitor give a low pressure reading. It's worse when you stop at the next two or three gas stations along the way, and none of the air pumps go up to the 80 psi that your camper needs. (Bite your fingernails till you reach a truck stop.) This pump is easy to use, great for topping off the tires before the trip. It's small enough to pack along, and it's powerful enough to do what most gas station air pumps won't do. We got the version that clamps onto the battery, so we can use the vehicle's battery or the camper's battery, whichever is more accessible.
Works great for bicycle tires and sports balls, took a long time to bring a spare tire for a trailer up to pressure.
Worked well for filling bike tires. I loved the automatic shutoff at a set pressure. First time I tried to fill one of my trailer tires, though, it started smoking. Wiring and plugs were fine (not even warm), but the pump couldn't take my trailer tire from 65 to 80 PSI before smoking-out. I've seen mention that it's meant to run in 10-min cycles... this thing is already has auto-shutoff so if it needs cool-down time, it should be configured to do that automatically rather than a user being expected to keep a timer on it.
Compressor is dead now after trying to top-off 1 1/2 trailer tires - it started leaking the air internally.
The first time I used it meet my expectations and looks like it will meet my compressor needs, a car, truck and travel trailer, w/spares. Very impressed with its first use and how quiet it was.
Unit performed well the first time it was used. Second time the feature to preset the pressure for auto shut off could not be set (blank screen). Contacted customer service twice during warranty period to request a replacement. No response from Bulldog customer service. Very disappointed. Waste of money.
Works well. Only reason not 5 stars is the power cord should be another 2-3' longer.
Works as advertised, left a bunch of air out of one of my trailer tires and the pump was able to put it right back to 75 psi without any trouble. Not totally sold on the thread on air hose but I’ll get used to it. Nice and compact too
This heavy duty air compressor was very reasonably priced and is a must for anyone with a travel trailer. Working with your 12volt battery, It is fast and easy to top tires off in your driveway or at the campground before taking off on a trip. Etrailer has great products they stand behind, shipping is always fast and prices are great too.
Quality tire compressor. Bought for trailer wheels that require 65 psi pressure. Inflates tires pretty quickly. Heats up, but not much and cools down quickly. Convenient long hose and long wire. A small minus - the thread for the air filter is clogged with paint. Before screwing on the filter, it must be cleaned.
The first time I used this compressor it blew a fuse in my truck. I replaced it and then it worked long enough to finish with that tire. I chalked it up as just "one of those things". Next time I tried to use it a few weeks later I was camping and needed to get my travel trailer tires ready to move. The compressor blew the fuse and all the spares I had and still did not have the first tire to a road worthy pressure and I had to pull the trailer with low tires. I emailed the company that made it to complain and they never even replied. I probably should have contacted etrailer but I didn't. I liked the features of the compressor but it doesn't do any good if it constantly blows fuses.
I set it to 80 PSI and started it. It shut off when it was done. I was happy with the performance. It was accurate according to my digital tire pressure gauge.
After owning this unit for almost One Year i must admit i hadn't used it for anything too big until recently. it works fine for my bicycle tires, the tires on my Hand Trucks and other "small" tires and such however whether this was a misunderstanding on my part or whether the specs were a bit ambiguous i'm NOT sure but when i tried to air up a low tire on my pickup this Air Compressor would hardly air up my tire more than a few PSI rather than the 25-30 PSI i needed to re-inflate my tire. i own a 1 Ton, CrewCab Dually and my tire size is 235/75 R16. The tires require 80 PSI and i was barely able to get the ONE low tire beyond approximately 55 PSI and i found the Cigarette Lighter plug on this unit got QUITE hot in the process. after contacting the Manufacturer i found out this little unit was NOT intended for any types of Heavy Duty tires, which would include the 100 PSI required to properly inflate the tires on my RV either, even thought in the ad it shows and stated it WILL air up a Truck Tire. so if you are needing something to handle a Truck Tire i would say this unit would NOT be a good choice for that.
I bought this to use on my horse trailer. I needed something that could do up to 100# psi when traveling. I spoke with Kim at etrailer and she felt it would do what I wanted. She assured me if not, she would assist me in returning it at no charge. Well I can assure you it does the job and very fast. Just hook it up to the batteries on the trailer. There's plenty of cord to reach the tires and took it about 1 minute to get to the needed pressure. My trailer is a tri-axle approximately 40' long. Easy peazy. No more worries about finding someplace I can get to when a tire is low. Just pull in to a rest stop and fill the tire.
What a little Gem of a compressor! Took me a minute to figure out I had to screw the piece ON TO the tire valve but than it worked perfectly! Can't wait to try it on a blow up kayak.
Overheats and shuts down.
Good stuff, fast shipping, and great prices. etrailer is becoming my go-to for the category.
Appears to be exactly what I needed for the geo pro trailer just in case we experience low tire pressure.
