Video Transcript for Bulldog Winch Portable Twin Head Air Compressor Breakdown

Hi, Matt with etrailer. If you have a larger size motor home or you have a van that you plan on doing maybe some light off-roading, overlanding, and you want a way to quickly inflate your tires and you want something with that higher PSI then the Bulldog winch twin head air compressor is gonna be a great option for you. So let's check it out. What I like about this compressor is on top of also being fast and having a larger PSI, it's gonna be very compact. As you can see this isn't gonna take up very much space in whatever you're using to haul it, whether that be the motor home or any type of larger type van. The biggest thing is you're pairing this up to the correct size tires.

This is something that is recommended for 40 inches and plus size tires. So this is gonna have a lot of bang for you. Now if you are doing a lot of that more extreme off-roading where there's gonna be a lot of jostling happening and this is gonna be be moved quite a bit, I might recommend something more like the ARB air compressors. Reason being is they're gonna come in a case as it'll help prevent them from getting damaged and they're gonna last a longer time as opposed to something like this because we only have this lighter-duty case to help protect it. But that's for those really extreme off-roading conditions.

This will be great for most situations, especially if you have those larger tires. And speaking of that, we're really gonna be focusing on how this is gonna perform today. So I'll test it out, see how fast it takes to air up our tires afterwards I'm gonna move over to talk about some of the specs and then finally I'll give you my final thoughts on it. So you're gonna have a couple parts that comes with your kit. So besides the bag, we're gonna have the compressor and then that's gonna have your 29 1/2 foot hose that comes with it.

And then the actual tire inflator itself. And the way we're just gonna start off by doing things is get everything set up. So I wanna put my cable to the side and start hooking up to this. You're just gonna pull on this tab here, connect to the hose, make sure you have a good connection by pulling on it. That feels pretty good.

And then we'll come over to the tire inflater itself. Same thing on this side, putting that male end to the female end until we have a good connection. And now we can actually start hooking up to our vehicle. But the first thing you wanna do is make sure you turn on your vehicle to make sure you don't drain your battery. Now I'm just gonna go ahead and start making my connections. After that I'm just gonna go down to the compressor and just make sure we are getting power. I can tell I have power because I can actually see we have some zeros popping up on the screen. It's been pretty hard to tell because the sun is pretty bright today. While you are using this, you might have to get pretty close to actually able to tell, but from here we can actually set what our maximum pressure's gonna be because it actually has a safety feature put in here so you don't overinflate your tires. The way you do that, you just come over to this plus sign, you have a minus sign, too, so you can even lower it, too, and this is gonna raise it to whatever I need it to be. Today our tire pressure needs to be at about 110, so I'm gonna just bring it up that high 'til we're set. Now I'm gonna air up my rear tire. And as you can see, we do have plenty of length we have today. So this is a smaller Class A size motor home and this is still giving me plenty of length. Now if you have an extremely large one, you might have to upgrade to a longer hose, especially if you're going to the other side where you might not have as much reach. But from here we're can actually start airing up our tire. And then to do that, I'm actually gonna set a timer to make sure I can see how fast this is gonna air up, too. Now something we noticed when we we inchesre first hooking up, when I try to hook up to the inside tire, we don't have much threading to go off of, so I'm trying to put it on there. It doesn't really wanna grab, so what you're gonna have to do, most likely, if you're in a similar circumstance, is just constantly apply pressure to this so it stays on. Now if you're on the outside tire or just a regular vehicle, most likely you will have enough space or enough threading to put this in place. But I'm also just gonna use this gauge here, a secondary one, just to make sure we are getting correct readings and so far, this is looking pretty spot on. So it's matching everything else that we have. So the readings are good and we can actually start inflating this now. We just finished airing up our tire. Now I will have a few things to say. When we tried airing up the tire inside, since we don't have too much of a stem, it actually wasn't working properly. We we inchesre able to get the work with the tire on the outside since there is a lot longer of a stem here, you just need to make sure it's seated on there properly, 'cause if it's just a little bit off, what will happen most likely is it's gonna run for maybe about 10 seconds and shut off on you. So just make sure you have a good seat because then it'll start running again. It'll stop for a little bit. They kind of level out and then start going again until this is all the way filled up. And we aired this up by about 10 PSI 'til we got to about 90 and that took about 30 seconds, which is really good for tires this size. Now I did test the ARB out recently and it took about the same amount of time, roughly, on a smaller tire size, one about 40 PSI, but this is really impressive that we're still getting those same speeds even on these larger sizes. And part of the reason why we're able to get those faster speeds at airing up your tires is because of the CFM. This is gonna have a CFM of 10.6. So when we compare that to other portable types of compressors, this is gonna outperform most of them with those pretty high speeds. A lot of speeds I typically see at more of a higher end for a portable compressor; it's gonna be around six, so this is almost gonna double that. And it really shows when we're airing up those larger tires and still getting great speeds. And speaking of those larger tires, we're gonna be able to work with about 150 PSI. That's pretty good, a lot of air compressors out there, you'll see typically around 100, you'll see some that get to 150. And typically on those 150 PSIs, that's gonna be great for anything like your larger motor homes, like your class A's. On top of that, too, if we're looking at how long you can run this for, you'll be able to run this for about 40 minutes. So that's gonna be your max duty cycle. After when you reach that limit, you just kind of give it a 40 minute break, let it kinda rest a little bit and then you can start using it again. But most cases, if you're just using it for your one vehicle, you're probably not gonna hit that 'cause it is gonna air up your tires quickly. Now if there's a group of you or you are using this for multiple vehicles, multiple tires, you might hit that limit if there's a lot of you, especially if you are going off-roading with a lot of friends. There's gonna be a few other things that stand out to me and one of them is gonna be the overload protector on here. And what that's fully designed to do is to make sure you don't overinflate your tires. Typically when you're using an air compressor, you'll hear it continuously run the entire time. This, instead, is gonna stop once it hits that certain point. So when you set a limit of 90 on here, it's gonna start pushing air through. Once it reads out 90, then it'll stop and kinda level out until you're ready to air it up some more. And that's what it will continue to do. And that's just another feature that's gonna help protect this and your tires. What I also like is gonna be the construction and how it's built. So what I like about this is we have this handle on it and it makes it easier to transport to wherever you need it to sit. On top of that, this is a little bit heavier, a little bit more bulky. So having that handle is just gonna make that process easier, but this construction makes it more sturdy and robust. So it's gonna be able to take quite a beating, especially if you're doing, like I said, that light off-roading. And we're also gonna have this foot pad here. So what that's doing is, when this is running, of course it's gonna start shaking 'cause those motors are running and it's gonna help to keep it in place so it doesn't ride away on you. In my opinion. I think this is a pretty solid choice for an air compressor, especially with how fast it is. It's not gonna take up any time to air up your tires, even if there's those even extra large ones. Now, if you're in something where you have an extra long motor home and maybe this isn't enough hose to reach your rear tires, then I'd recommend going with something more like Viair. What's great about Viair compressors is they're gonna have those extra-long hoses to reach those great distances. But what you could also do with this too is just add on a hose to it later on so you could get those distances. But really it's just gonna depend on if you wanna take that extra step or not. What I like about this is this also hits a great price tag and it's gonna be very versatile to get you through a lot of different situations. But this is just a look at the Bulldog Winch twin head air compressor. I'm Matt, thanks for watching.

I bought this to use on my horse trailer. I needed something that could do up to 100# psi when traveling. I spoke with Kim at etrailer and she felt it would do what I wanted. She assured me if not, she would assist me in returning it at no charge. Well I can assure you it does the job and very fast. Just hook it up to the batteries on the trailer. There's plenty of cord to reach the tires and took it about 1 minute to get to the needed pressure. My trailer is a tri-axle approximately 40' long. Easy peazy. No more worries about finding someplace I can get to when a tire is low. Just pull in to a rest stop and fill the tire.
