Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, and how they may affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

The pewag Servo RS self-tensioning tire chains are great all-purpose, winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these chains are perfect because they're durable, easy to mount, and give you constant traction - and they're lightweight and compact, so they store in your vehicle nicely too. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you might want to get a chain with V-bar links that can bite into the ice you need to give you maximum traction.

These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install. Unlike other self-tensioning chains, the Servo RS have tensioning devices built into the side chains so there's no need to route additional tensioners when you install them. Just make a couple connections, move the button on the ratcheting device to "drive," and you'll be able to see the chains begin to tension. Because they self-tension more and self-center as you drive, these chains will give you a perfect fit, no matter the profile or wear pattern of your tire. Plus, you only have to get out of your vehicle one time - once they're installed, there's no need to drive forward, stop, and check their tension.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the side wall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Snow Chains

Installing these chains is simple.
  1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.
  2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the cable, which will sit behind the tire.
  3. Connect the inner chain to the outer traction chain at the bottom of the tire using the large red hook, then activate the servo device to ratchet the chain tightly into place.
  4. Once all the connections are made, move the switch on the ratchet back to "drive." The rachet will tension the chains, then center and fully tighten them on your wheels as you drive forward, giving you a perfect fit.

Removing the chains is as quick and easy as putting them on. Just move the switch to "open," pull the cable to give the chains some slack, and disconnect.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Recommended Tire Chains for a 2011 Ford Fusion w/ 225/50 R-17 Tires
Yes, they will. The CG-9 Konig Tire Chains item # TH00023100 do work on 225/50 R-17 tires and actually do a better job of protecting your rims and require less clearance then the Konig CB-12 item # TH01221100. These will work great on your 2011 Ford Fusion. I have linked an installation video below so you can see how to get them set up.

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2014 Jeep Compass Tire Size 205/70R16
I attached a link to this page that has all of the tire chains we offer that fit your tire size of 205/70R16 but my favorite option is the Pewag RS diamond chains part # PWRS75 as they install easily, provide great traction, and due to the diamond pattern the ride quality is a little smoother and side to side traction (turning) is better.

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 215/55-17 Tires on 2012 Volkswagen GTI
The correct set of chains for you would depend on your needs. If you want an inexpensive set of chains that will sit in the back of the vehicle, to be used in the unlikely event that you found yourself in a situation where you'll need them, the Glacier Chains # TC1138 would be a good choice. We also recommend the Rubber Adjusters, part # PW99. However, if you're purposely driving into snowy and mountainous areas and know without a doubt you'll need the chains frequently, you'd be better...

The Pewag Snox Pro part # PWSXP560 and the Pewag Servo RS part # PWRS75 are both excellent tire chains. They have several similarities but also a few key differences. I have created an itemized list of these similarities and differences for you below, similar to a comparison chart. Servo RS: - Drape Over Tire - Make Connections - Steel Square Link - Diamond Links - Rim Protection - Class S Compatible Snox Pro: - Drape Over Tire - No Connections - Steel Square Link - Diamond Links -...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek w/ 225/60 R-17 Tires
No they do not. The pewag Servo RS Tire Chains item # PWRS75 do not fit 225/60 R-17 tires. I confirmed this information with Pewag. For a comparable set that does fit your 2021 Subaru Crosstrek with 225/60 R-17 tires, I recommend the Konig Tire Chains item # TH01221104. These tire chain have square links that provide traction in both snow and ice, a self-tensioning mechanism to make installing easier, and a diamond pattern for a smoother ride. • Recommended S-Class Tire Traction Devices for 2016 Subaru WRX with P245/40-18X Tires
The online edition of the owner's manual for your 2016 Subaru WRX notes on page 8-10 that low-profile S-Class tire traction devices can be used on the car's front axle only. It further states that you should use only devices rated by their manufacturer as suitable on your specific tire size. We do have options for your P245/40-18X tire size that are shown on the linked page. These do not include any of the ISSE snow socks, please note. If you are looking for low-cost chains that will...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2014 Jeep Patriot
For a great set of tire chains confirmed to fit the 205-70R16 tires you have on your 2014 Jeep Patriot I would recommend the Pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # PWRS75. These are easy to install, self-tension, work great on front and rear wheel drive vehicles, and offer rim protection to help protect the finish of the rims of your vehicle. You will want to check the owners manual of your vehicle to see if there are any restrictions on snow chain usage with your vehicle.

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My Travel Trailer with 205/75-15 Tires?
For chains on your travel trailer with 205/75-15 tires, I recommend using chains on the braking axle. For this route, a great set of tire chains is the pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - 1 Pair # PWRS75. The great thing about these chains is the self-tensioners. This component takes away the headache of having to re-tighten the chains after each trip. Also, the pewag chains are Class S compatible if you have limited wheel well clearance on your trailer. Since the links are...

  • Best Tire Chains for Use on 2014 Audi S4 with 245/40-18 Tires
Chains that are easy to install and remove tend to get used more, and so tend to actually help you in bad weather. Chains that are tough to install and adjust often remain in the trunk and do you no good. So I suggest you select chains that offer automatic tensioning and quick-release, such as the Pewag Servo RS chains # PWRS75, that are shown in the linked video. These chains feature automatic tensioning, quick-release and rim protection. You can click on the linked page to see all available...

We don't show the # TC2533 as being a fit for the 245/45-17 tire size, nor does Titan in their catalog. I've linked to the chains we offer that are a fit for your 245/45-17 tires. Of the listed fits, I'd recommend the Pewag Servo, part # PWRS75, which are self-tensioning and pretty easy to use. I'll link to a product demonstration video that you might find helpful.

  • Tire Chains for 2015 Toyota Camry
We do indeed offer tire chains that are compatible with the 205/65-16 tire on a 2015 Toyota Camry. Many vehicle manufacturers will have specific recommendations for tire chains, so I suggest you consult your owner's manual and abide by any advice or prohibitions found there. Your owner's manual states that the side chain width should be no more than 10mm. Thule's Low-Pro Tire Chains, part # TH04115097 meet this specification. The chains are super easy to install and remove, and therefore...

  • Snow Chains that Fit Tire Size 205/70-16 Recommendation
The difference in size between the two tire sized you mentioned would not allow the same chain to fit both. The part # PW1926V that you mentioned would fit the 205/70-13 but not the 16 inch tire size. For a similar solution that fits that size you'd want the part # TC335DC if you were wanting cables. Cables are great for a one time use but if you wanted something that wasn't too expensive yet would hold up better a set of pewag chains part # PWRS75 would be a really great option thats...
