Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Konig's Easy Fit snow chains are are just that - an easy fit. Just slide them over the tire and step on a pedal to tension them. The chains finish self-tensioning after a full tire rotation. These are excellent if you're looking for chains that are completely effortless because there's no reaching around the tire to make connections, driving forward and rechecking the tension, or crawling around on the cold, wet ground to install them. Removing the Easy Fit is just as simple - pull the red pin in the middle and push the red buttons at the bottom of the center element to release tension, then unwrap the chain from around the tire.

They're also great all-purpose winter weather chains. so if you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and incredibly easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for ultimate durability. The center tensioning element on each Easy Fit chain is made of rustproof aluminum for lasting effectiveness.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly easy and it doesn't require crawling around on the cold, wet ground to make connections, or getting out to readjust them after driving a short distance.

Pull sides of the rigid arch apart to extend wire

1. Open the rigid arch section of the chain and pull the sides apart.

Tuck the rigid arch behind the tire, starting at the top, and tug chains down

2. Drape the chain over the top of the tire and tug down to fit it all the way around the bottom. (If you're testing these on bare pavement, the red cable may not fit under your tire like it would in snow.)

Flip pedal out, step on it until it clicks

3. Flip the pedal out and step on it, pushing it down the track of the center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom.

Replace pedal into travel position and attach tensioners to side chains

4. Pop the pedal back into the locked position.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Should Snow Chains Be Installed on All 4 Tires for Vehicle Traveling through Mountains
Ideally you run chains on all four tires to be the safest. Some people get away with one set, but if you are going to be travelling through snowy mountains with tight corners you are definitely a candidate for chains on all 4 wheels. That said the traction is so low in snow that running only one set is not going to damage the transmission like different size tires would on dry pavement. What is your tire size? With that I'll pick you out the correct size chains and give you a couple options...

  • Recommended Snow Tires Chains for 2019 Ford Escape with 235/55-17 Tires Under 10mm
The only actual tire chain option we offer for a 2019 Ford Escape with 235/55-17 tires that meets the 10mm requirement of the owner's manual is the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains part # th04115240. The Konig Self-Tensioning Chains have an automatic self-tightening mechanism so you don't have to worry about the chains coming loose, an easy to use step for faster install/removal, and nylon bumpers to protect your wheels. If you're simply looking to have a set of "chains"...

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 225/60-17 Tires on My 2019 Hyundai Tucson?
I definitely have tire chains that will fit your tires on your 2019 Hyundai Tucson. From your information you provided, the tire size only includes the first three numbers: 225/60-17. The last sequence (99H) does not correspond to the tire size. It is the load index and speed rating. I did some research on your vehicle, and the owner's manual states that they recommend snow tires over tire chains for your 2019 Hyundai Tucson. However, most manufactures typically say this in order to wash...

  • Tire Chains Recommendation for 2018 Jeep Cherokee Limited 2wd Tire Size 225/60R17
When it comes to whether or not a vehicle can have tire chains/cables installed the vehicle manufacturer is the final authority. What you need to do is speak to the salesman you talked to again and get them to put in writing or in some other way guarantee that you are okay to use cables or Class S (low clearance) tire chains. This problem comes up quite a bit and what we find is that the manual says you can't use them, but then if you can get a dealer to okay the use of the chains you're...

  • Recommended Replacement Tire Chains For a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan With 235/50-18 Wheels and Tires
The Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # th02230k45 are only available as a set and not individually. I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains # th04115240 for your 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan with 235/50-18 wheels and tires. These have a lot less steps to install the chains when you need them. They simply get placed around the tire and then you step on the pedal to activate the tensioner to secure the chains. I never liked the idea of the lug nut strap holding...
