Question:
I purchased a pair of Thule K-Summit K45 chains in 2015 for the 2014 VW Tiguan with tire size 235/50-R18. I fitted them carefully and used them successfully once, then one of the chains started coming off. I successfully retrieved the lost chain twice and checked the fit, the fittings, even tried exchanging the side of the car and the lug nut, to no avail. Now the chain fell off on the freeway with no hope of finding it again. My questions are: 1 Is it possible to obtain a single chain as a replacement for the one I lost? 2 Is there some kind of strap that I can install to hold the chain onto the tire, in the event the lug-nut-clamp comes loose? Is there a better alternative chain for this car that will not fall off? The problem is small clearance between the tire and suspension components inside the wheel well.

The Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # th02230k45 are only available as a set and not individually.
I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains # th04115240 for your 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan with 235/50-18 wheels and tires. These have a lot less steps to install the chains when you need them. They simply get placed around the tire and then you step on the pedal to activate the tensioner to secure the chains. I never liked the idea of the lug nut strap holding on a tire chain.
