How to Install the Konig Self-Tensioning Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains on a 2018 Hyundai Tucson

Today on our 2018 Hyundai Tucson, we're going to be taking a look at and show you how to install the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro snow tire chains. Keep in mind we will be installing these on tire size 225-60-17. Couple things that are going to set these apart from others, number one is going to be how easy they are to install. You want to check all your links for any knots, breaks, anything like that. You're going to take these two red tabs. You're going to push them in. You're going to pull this one out.

We're going to take our red ends and we're going to pull them apart. Our red line is going to go towards the bottom of the tire. We're going to flip it over, and we're going to slide this right over top of the center. We're going to take our two red ends and we're going to start feeding them through the back of the tire. Once you get them centered, you're going to fold this out.

You're going to step on them so they lock into place. Fold it back up, repeat the same process on the other side. They're a diamond pattern design. Unlike your ladder pattern designs and your V pattern, the diamond pattern design is going to give you more tire coverage. What's unique about these, unlike some of the other diamond pattern designs out there, is that section of chain within each diamond has a second link for added traction. We're going to have D-link style chains.

It gives us two flat surfaces on each link to give us more surface-to-surface contact between the chain and the roadway. This is also going to allow the chain to wear more evenly. The diamond pattern design, along with the D-link style chains not only gives you excellent traction in snow and ice, but it really helps when making turns. They're going to be constructed of a manganese nickel alloy steel. It's going to resist any rust or corrosion. Our inside chains are going to have a coating, so they're not cold to the touch, and if contact if made with the wheel, it's not going to scratch it.

We're going to have integrated rubber tensioners that going to maintain a tight fit on your chains. Our center section is going to be constructed of an aluminum casing so it's not going to rust, and it's going to have a rubber coating on the back so if contact is made with the wheel, it's not going to harm it.These chains are going to have a 30 mile power speed rating, come in a quantity of two, come with a nice carrying case for easy storage. The case is going to double as a kneeling mat and have installation instructions printed on the inside. Now, I've installed these on the front tires of the vehicle because it's a front wheel drive. If you want to pick up a second set for the other set of wheels, just use the same part number. That'll do it for our look at and installation on the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro snow tire chains on our 2018 Hyundai Tucson.
